Mostly fish, vegetables, cheese and fruit. Pretty large market. Fair prices. Easy to find as it is in the middle of the city.
Not much more to say really. No entry free or anything. Taste some cheese before buying.

The Vismarkt, fish market, is a very beautiful market, I would say, one of the best, which can easily compete with the famous markets in Amsterdam. It’s a very multicultural market, where they offer anything from the whole of Europe and the Caribbean, which represents the other part of the Dutch Kingdom in the Caribbean. It’s a colorful event worth visiting as is Groningen itself

Vismarkt is a market for vegetables and fruits, bakery items and other items which are necessary for day to day living. It is in the center of Groningen. The market is opened on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The tourists should not miss this place of attraction. It is not flashy, but it is a market for all house hold needs. One can see elderly persons selling varieties of biscuits and a family or two managing various types of breads and biscuits. Of course there is one stall , where various types of tea dust and powder and varieties of masalas and curry powder available. The fruits and green vegetables are plenty and one also can see various types of potatoes.
One should not miss De Belge Waterloo, a place for friet. Really hot and tasty and it is very fresh. One can have various friet varieties of their choice. But a girl with ever smiling face greets you with a smile and you will never forget the experience after seeing her warmth and sense of dedication to make customers smile and keep engaging customers while friet is being prepared. The art of managing time and people should be learnt from this girl, who goes out of the way to make every customer happy and it adds more taste to friet. Please enjoy friet or french fry

If you like fresh produce markets, you'll love this huge outdoor market in Groningen - why don't British markets measure up to their continental relatives - the vast array of fresh produce / frruit / veg / meat and fish on offer was mind boggling !

It’s an awesome market with many fresh fruits. I definitely recommend the fries in the market! And the Portugese egg tart is also quite good.

This market offers an excellent source of fresh fish and baked goods. It also has some stalls which sell food such as fish and chips or fries. You can purchase fresh flowers as well as handicraft items. It is open on Friday and Saturdays and is usually busy but offers plenty of room to move around and see the many stalls. The city does a very good job in cleaning the market area at the end of the day. Conveniently located in the centre area of the City with many restaurants nearby.

This is the city center and also known as the grottemart. On any other weekday this is the busiest square with open air eateries and bars and the food trucks for Dutch potato wedges and fries ! To see and feel the authentic flavor, one must visit this square on a Saturday. Farmers from around Groningen province come to sell their wares. Fresh vegetables and fruits and meat and fresh bakes and cheese to flowers which are nothing but riot of colors and fragrance! This the most favorite of my market and square...and for anything else theres also an AlbertHein :)

More like a real central square than nearby Grote Markt. Moreover no motorized vehicles here, just pedestrians and bicycles (lots of them). The square has a rectangular shape and is rounded by some historic buildings, though many have been added in the 1930s and 1950s. At the Western end there is the Korenbeurs and the Aa church behind it.
Beware of pickpockets. The fasteners on my bike were stolen when I left it unattended for just 5 minutes.
Market days: Tuesday, Friday and Saturday 9:00 - 17:00
Smaller market on the pavement on Wednesday and every first Sunday of the month.
