It is located in the center of Nijmegen, close to the Valkhof Museum and the river called the Waal. You can also go inside a beautiful old church. It is "uphill", meaning you get a good view.

As a child I visited this park because of the beautiful view one has of the Waalbrug and the Waal river. But now, many years later, the building is totally renovated and it is beautiful inside. I was so impressed and I loved it! Definitely a must see when you are in Nijmegen. The trees are also enormous and the... More

I was here in Nijmegen central by chance and saw this open space theater event, can't help but to walk in the park to take a look. I wasn't disappointed in fact this charming little park is really good place to chill, sit, and relax. There is a nice view overlooking the Waal River. There are plenty of cafes and... More

The Valkhofpark you simply can't miss when visiting Nijmegen. History in the centre of the eldest city in the Netherlands is here to be found, along with lawns to sit - there are benches available when sitting on a lawn isn't comfortable for you - or lay down, share a picknick or a drink, shadowy if you'd prefer, it will... Be sure and go inside the Cathedral and look at the replica of the castle as it was. Fascinating. They have done a nice job of preservation and the grounds are peaceful for a short walk or picnic. Don't miss this if you are in Nijmegen. It wont take long, but you will never forget it.

It is a small quiet park, not many things to do but it is a nice place to walk or a have stop to see the really old chapel that stands there or the view of the river Waal.

The sun was shining during my walking tour of Nijmegen and the park was at the top of my list of sites to see. The St. Nicholas chapel is a beautiful architectural monument, especially with its scenic overlook of the Waal River. It is set in a lovely park near the old Roman city of Noviomagus. A local volunteer gave... More

Even though Nijmegen is not the busiest city and is the pedestrian zone just a couple beginning almost across the street - the Valkhof park with its lawns under huge old trees is a good place to take a moment of rest. And once recuperated - don't forget to take a look over the river Waal from the heights of... More

This is a nice little park on a hill overlooking the river. There's a small and really old (12th century?) chapel here in which an elderly gentleman was playing a renaissance flute at the time of my visit -- a nice refuge from the blazing sun outside.
