With 650 hectares in size this is a huge English landscape style park. It has been cultivated over a period of 300 years! A very pleasant area to walk through because of the variety of nature presentations and the presence of wild life such as deer.

Oak and fir forest, brooks and ponds, moors and meadows, all accessible by well maintained trails. The longest route is just under 15 km. Hard to imagine that until recently just one family and their guests could enjoy the landscapes. Now open to the general public, but -very Dutch- payment is required.

Entry fee: 2€ for a one day pass.

If you are a lover of well landscaped gardens, this is one of the places to be when you happen to be in the neighbourhood.

This is one of the main attractions of the Netherlands. The summer palace of the royal family has been transformed into a museum, where you can visit the rooms where the kings lived. The gardens are beautiful and inspired by Versailles. Schedule about 3 hours to be able to calmly visit the palace and gardens

We actually just went for the "Chapeaux" exhibition but are sure to go back with lots more time. Very pleasant short shuttle ride available for an extra charge (only 1 euro return fare, well worth it) which came in handy for my slightly disabled husband as the ground are vast.

Behind the formel garden of the palace Het Loo you can walk in this park. There are ponds and brooks and there is an area where you can walk between the deer.

We enjoyed the open air concert Elisabet at this beautiful Royal Palace. Situated in the palace gardens we listened to beautiful music and a great performance. We did not go into the palace itself, but we will come back to do this.

The weather wasn't that good, but even with a bit of rain it is worth it to visit the park. Great compliments for the outstanding work by the gardeners. It is a pity that there is no general information shown in the park about the work and maintenance. (how do they cut the edge's of the lawn?)

Be sure to enjoy the gardens at the Paleis. They are large, well kept and lovely! There is ample seating, but since food is not available, pack a picnic, sit on a bench and pretend you are a Royal!
