De Museumhaven Leeuwarden is een uniek stukje Leeuwarden aan de noordzijde van de Willemskade in het hart van de stad, met een mooie verzameling voormalige Nederlandse bedrijfsvaartuigen. De Museumhaven is in 2005 ontstaan; haar trotse boegbeeld Stanfries X is zorgvuldig gerestaureerd en nu in gebruik als visitekaartje, vergaderruimte en unieke locatie voor kunst & cultuur.

appreciation for the sailor of old times
Couples
We visited the old ships on the canal several times on our stay in Leeuwarden, and always saw something interesting. Some of the boats were out (their information plaques were there to clue you in that a boat was usually docked there) but there were still many to see from different times, river boats and sea-goers from times when they were the main form of transporting people and goods throughout the Netherlands. We gained a new appreciation for the sailors of old times and how different it was then and now.

Joyful Boat Tours in Leeuwarden
What is apparent from a far is not what is real in Leeuwarden. In my apparent view I thought that the city would be small and not many interesting things to see and explore until I started on the boat tours. Centuries old building full of stories and beautiful canal cruising through the city with a lots of interesting cultural sights to see. The tours made my day!

Escher Exhibition
We went to see an exhibition of the work of the Dutch artist M.C.Escher, a native of Leeuwarden, which had been curated for the European Year of Culture. The exhibition was excellent, really challenging and fascinating and constantly absorbing, despite it being absolutely packed. The mueum is lovely with lots of nice places to eat and a great shop.
