Compared to other zoos in the netherlands the aqua zoo in Leeuwarden is a bit average. it is small, looks rather worn out and does not have facilities that seem up to date. in my opinion some animals looked a bit dirty and unhappy. This said, the zoo is located in a very beautiful area with a lot of water... More

Where else can you pet a kangaroo? Our kids (3 years old twins) got a new friend - a kangaroo which they petted for quite a while. Great place for kids with playgrounds all over and a unique possibility to get very close to a lot of animals. I especially enjoyed that they have a concept and stick to it.... More

We were fortunate enough to visit on the very day the polar bear came out of quarantine, watching it discover his new surroundings was brilliant! The park was very well laid out, with some additional paths for children to discover new things in-between the different animal areas. Lots to see and close to Leeuwarden.

Visited here this place with my sister when we had some time between to appointments. It was heavy rain , but we decided to try it out. The entrance fee was 16€ per person, and it was definitely worth it. We thought maybe this was a large aquarium, but quickly noticed that we were wrong, the park had a lot... More

So relax d, located in a large park, wide open countryside. A nice idea, all water residents, the different animals. They all have enough room, which is important for animal parks. There were som pretty exotic ones, really, a must see. Great for kids!

The zoo itself is pretty outdated (the former owner went bankrupt Y 2015. Zoo was overtaken by owners of a.o. Safaripark Beekse Bergen). You can see that already some investments have been made (a.o. a new white bear "home" will be constructed -opening May 2016), but the whole zoo gives a really poor impression. Particularly the restaurant and interior zoo... More

We found it by accident and as we were on vacation, we thought it would be fun for our 6 year old daughter. The entrance, 48 euro for the three of us, set certain expectations. They had a very nice shop, but then we entered the zoo itself. Indoor was really smelly and we could hardly see the fish as... More
