Good to see how it was

We visites both villages which was nice to have a view how it once was. We had coffee where the lady told us the story of the 'uilenborden' on the farm houses.

You can imgane better how this beautifull province looked a century ago. If it matters on shipping, housing, churches, mills, school, farms, the old life is a living museum in the open air of this province.

We came upon this small museum by chance, on the way to Makkum. It portrays rural life in Friesland, during past times.There is a church ( usually with an art exhibition), a bakery, a blacksmith, a musuem farmhouse etc. We thoroughly enjoyed the farmhouse, with the beautiful tiled fireplace,the bed in the cupboard in the wall, and the barn all... More
