Heidiland and Liechtenstein Tour from Zurich: Two Countries in One Day

1,000 reviews
If you want to visit "Heidiland" but don’t know the best way to get there, this day trip from Zurich is the ticket. You’ll visit the village of Maienfeld, where the beloved Heidi books were set, and spend time in Zurich and Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, too. It’s the perfect way to learn the region’s history and culture while following in the footsteps of Heidi in the Swiss mountains.

The university decided to move the botanical garden when the growing number of skyscrapers shadowed the vegetation. Almost 50 years ago, the old garden became a recreational area and 20 years ago, it was renovated.

It is an university garden with a nice plateau where you can have a break. It is nice and quiet, also clean. Down there is a museum/interior garden and a very interesting artifact of reading the hours on the rock using the sun light.

I am a fan of botanic gardens so searched this out when in the city, based on the recommendations of other reviewers. To be honest I found it quite disappointing in comparison with other gardens. The glasshouse itself offers only a few species and no seats to enjoy this aspect of the gardens.

The botanical garden is on a shared location with the folklore museum. As soon as you step into the garden you are surrounded by peace and beauty. But don't forget to keep on moving! There is must to see in this garden. Go to the top, where you will find a glass house. Sit down and enjoy the view, the peace and quite of this location. You will find cards with the names of plants / trees throughout this garden. There is a special pathway to the glass house for people who are not able to climb the stairs to the top.

This botanical garden is a very beautiful and a peaceful tourist spot. The location is convenient and a walking distance from downtown. Must visit for nature lovers. I ended up sending half day just relaxing in there
