This is a rack and pinion or cog wheel rail system, which takes one from the center of the city to the top of mountain, near the university area. Zurich pass is applicable here. The slope is very steep and whole system gels very well into the city landscape.

This is a very short rack railway in a suburb of Zurich. It goes from the Romerhof station to the Bergstation Dolderbahn where the Dolder Grand Hotel is located. There is also a park at the top and a large swimming pool. The entire ride is only about 5 minutes and there are 2 stops on the way up. We took this trip as part of a city tour in Zurich.
The Romerhof station is actually located inside a large building but it is very close to the street and city trams pass by regularly.
If you go to the top, walk from the station toward the Dolder Grand Hotel. It is only two-three minutes. There you will have a magnificent view of Zurich and Lake Zurich.

Don't ignore nor allow anyone to talk you out ot a trip on the Dolderbahn and visit the beautiful Dolder Grand Hotel at the last stop = Bergstation....an hour or two is all you need for the round trip. Take the Zurich Tram Green Line, get off at the Romerhof Stop. The Dolderbahn funicular loads inside the building adjacent on the east side.

The local trams #3,#8,and #15, will drop you off at Romerhof which is where you can pick up the Dolderbahn which runs about every 15 minutes between 7a-10p, less frequently outside these hours. The bahn ride takes about 6 minutes to the top at the Bergstation.
A lot of families with children/babies in strollers utilize the bahn to make the journey up to the top where there are trails (paved or cleared) where one can enjoy the beauty, nature and the quiet surroundings.

I used this small cog railway 🚃 which is close to the center of Zurich (Römerhof) to reach the Dolder Grand hotel.
All very clean and neat and very well maintained.
The drivers were extremely friendly so I enjoyed the rides up and down with a view.

This funicular railway has three stops and takes you from Romerhof up to the Dolder Hotel, the Dolder Ice Rink and Swimming pool.
The train is utterly delightful and a source of great enjoyment for children who can sit in the front and see the same view that the train driver sees.
Zurich at it's best.

Take the Dolderbahn [small train –“funicular” (08:30 – 18:30 except Sundays) free for the Zurich Card holders], from the από την Römerhofplatz 5 (Tram Νr 3 & 8, Tram stop : “Römerhof’), and go up to «The Dolder Grand» Hotel.
From there, follow the wonderful path (17’), that lead to the Zoo, in front of FIFA. From there, take Tram Νr 6 and return to the Zurich city center.

This is such an adorable little train to make your way up towards the Dolder Grand hotel. Upon arrival you may head toward the woods for a long stroll or depending on the season go ice skating in winter ( outdoors )

Nice and friendly conductor. Our 2 boys loved the ride up and down the Dolderbanh. Very quaint, lots of locals took it for transportation. Family took ride up to the Hotel Dodler Grand and we were greeted with beautiful views of the city. Enjoyed champagne and hot chocolate while taking in the beauty of the hotel. Around Easter time, they had a large Easter egg made of thousands of real flowers. Quite impressive.

If you want to get up above Zurich for a quick panorama of the city and Lake Zurich. You can take a number of trams to Romerhof where the Dolderbahn mountain train station is just opposite. If you have a ZVV day pass the Dolderbahn is included. Otherwise it is only a couple of CHF. The small train goes every few minutes for a 12 minute ride up to Dolderberg. Nice views of homes, gardens and wooded parkland on the way up. On top there are many wooded trails and an outlook with amazing views of the Dolder Golf Course, Lake Zurich, snow capped mountains and the city.
Historic and elegant Dolder Grand Hotel is right there as well (very photographic)

I am not sure if you even have to pay tbh. No one was really checking. The ride is quite short, about 10 mins each way.

OI bom dia, essa atração é muito longe do centro da cidade?
O que tem de interessante lá em cima?
E qual o valor para subir no trem?
