I saw a concert featuring Radu Lupu and the Tonhalle orchestra which was of a very high quality. The concert hall itself is a beautiful venue and feels a special place to visit. The seats were comfortable although I have to say the ticket prices were not cheap (I sat in the front row as the concert was nearly sold-out)... More

The quality of the concerts varies depending on the society playing. Parterre is flat and the view from the rear can be not too good. Sound quality OK. If you book online, make sure you don't have columns on your way. Big problem: no air conditioning nor ventilation (the system dates back to 1939 or so). The heat and humidity... More

I stopped here to see the orchestra play and was amazed at the decor. A more traditional take on an orchestra hall. There were plenty of seats open and we were able to shuffle a little closer to the stage so we could see them play. There is a coat check however we didn't use it in hopes to not... More

I've been there several times for orchestral performances. And every time I think what a wonderful concert hall this is. It's small enough that the music can be presented without electronic amplification! That is rare compared to this age of immense halls. An acoustic box of just the right size and proportion. And the beauty of the performance space (not... More

Now I understand acoustics. This place is stunning, both for gazing and for hearing. If you're a classical music fan and you're in Zurich, this is really a must. Can't speak too highly of it.

I was there just once. I really enjoyed my stay there, the atmosphere is very good, the staff nice. Only thing that wasn't really well organized is the competence of the people working backstage. For an event while the ZFF Zurich Film Festival I called there because of a specific question. People didn't know much about the organization while the... More

Zurich's Tonhalle, situated close to the lake, hosts many great classical soloists and orchestras. It's a great place to listen to music, with exceptional acoustic and a nice atmosphere.

Regarding acustics (and program) one of the leading concert halls of Europe. Great performances with renowned solist or young talents, the latter often at affordable prices. It does not matter if you chose a cheaper ticket, if you're interested in listening only, the sound carries beautifully in every corner.

A truly wonderful concert by the renowned recorder player Dorothee Oberlinger and Dmitriy Sinkovsky with the Ensemble 1700. Terrific music. Unfortunately, the audience, which was very good at not clapping at the wrong moments, was atrocious at COUGHING between every piece, movement, etc! Disgraceful! I would rather have had some uneducated souls clap in the wrong place than that cacophony... More
