If you're wondering how to get here, BY FAR the easiest way is to take the train. There is a line that runs from the main Zurich station and literally ends at the mountain stop. It is simple, avoids parking (this is a restricted area so private cars aren't allowed from what I can tell), and minimizes walking. If you do drive there is a parking area (free on Sundays) at the base of the mountain and you can either hike up or walk part-way and catch the train.
Once you're at the station it is a short, but steep, hike up to the hotel and the views. We were here during the winter on a Sunday and there were still a fair number of visitors as it was a beautiful day. I'm sure it's much nicer in the summer but definitely worth the walk. I'd also recommend trying out some of the hot roasted chestnuts sold by the vendor on the path if he's there as they were DELCICIOUS.
The top of the mountain has a hotel and a tower that you can walk up for some extra elevation. The views are spectacular on a clear day and the tower itself has a small fee and a turnstile. You pay with credit card or coins but it can be a bit confusing when it is crowded as people coming down the tower use the same turnstile to exit while you're trying to pay to let you through. I call it a turnstile but it really is a full gate so no getting around it.
The views from the top of the tower are amazing and there are signs that provide details on all the landmarks you can see. The pictures barely do it justice and you can see the city, lake, and Alps in the distance. We had a clear view and fairly warm weather for February so got really lucky. I'm not sure I'd bother on a cloudy day.
The hotel has an outdoor restaurant and there are a few outdoor stands that sell food and drinks so you have some refreshments if you want to spend some time up there. There is an extensive trail system and some rocks and stairs to navigate if you're feeling adventurous. I definitely recommend stopping here and understand why it's one of the top locations in Zurich to visit.

This is by far one of the best places I’ve been too for views. Recommend going at sunset it was beautiful on a clear day with no clouds. Could see all of Zurich city as well as the Swiss Mountains. It was so easy to get too, 20 minute train ride from Zurich then 10 minute walk up to the top. There’s lots of seating areas overlooking the views, I could of stayed up there for hours it was so mesmerising. If visiting Zurich I could not suggest this place enough.

We hiked approximately 11.5 miles roundtrip from Zurich City Center to Uetliberg. It was worth the visit and had amazing views of the city and the alps along the way. We had coffee and snack in a restaurant at the top. Walking up the tower was worthwhile though it was very windy when we went since there was a storm coming.

This is a must see when visiting Zurich - the views are amazing get to see all over Zurich. Its quite a short steep walk up to the top - defiantly recommend on a clear day to get the best views. There is a restaurant on the top of the mountain with beautiful scenery. Once your at the top there is a observation tower which you can pay 2 Francs per person to go up the top (its a automatic machine/ turnstile) they accept contactless payment. Its very high up and get very very windy. I would recommend seeing and climbing to the top of the mountain.

My husband and I were visiting Zürich in December 2019 and we decided to spend part of one day traveling up to Uetliberg to see the views of the city, Lake Zürich, and the Alps. We took the tram from Zürich HB to Uetliberg and walked up to the viewing deck, paid to go up the viewing tower, and had lattes on the deck of the Uto Kulm restaurant. The weather was beautiful and pleasant to sit outside. This is definitely worth the trip and offers panoramic views of the city and surrounding valleys!

One of my favourite moments when exploring Zürich. I would definitely recommend visiting Uetliberg, if you have the chance. Took the bus (the train line was closed) which was included in the Zürich card, up the mountain. After a short hike you arrive at the lookout point. It cost around 2CHF/euro to go all the way up on the observation tower, you can pay with coins or card. Hiked the way down towards the Albisgüetli parkplatz which was very great for a beginner.

Totally worth the trek to the top of the mountain. We took the trams and buses to the top and it was well worth it. It costs €2 to climb the tower at the top of the mountain which is well worth it. The machine takes credit cards or cash. The views of the Alps are just insane, you almost feel like you can reach out and touch them. Definitely recommend.

Beautiful place to visit and easily accessible without having to book a tour. We added 2 zones to our Zurich pass so we could meet requirements, very cheap. The S10 line is closed for the summer 2022 so had to take bus but worth the trip.

We trammed to Triemil, foothill of Uetliberg mountain.. then took a steep hike to the top for stunning views of the city, Lake Zurich and the Alps beyond. Along the hike, we saw many families, hikers, bikers, BBQers, and paragliders enjoying the Sunday afternoon Swiss outdoor. Fresh air, gorgeous lake, overlooking Zürich, adventure, fields & valley, God’s creation, were words that came to mind as we enjoyed the beautiful day. We took in one final panoramic view as we came down on the Felsenegg cable car.

Great morning trip up the mountain - 30 minutes train ride and then approx 15 minutes walk up the hill. Different lookout points from the base as well as the lookout tower which has different information on various directions you at viewing from.
You can walk some other trails as well if you want to spend a half day with your own lunch or there is a small cafe by the train station. Enjoyed visiting here as you can get a nice view of the Swiss Alps on a clear day and if you go early, you can pretty much beat the crowds which makes the visit even nicer.
Would recommend.

At the train station (end of the line) there are no accommodations that I saw.The gravel road/trail from the train station goes fairly steeply uphill about a quarter to half mile to a very nice looking mountain top hotel....obviously you can (NEED TO) use the Trip Advisor hotel map search to get your answer and facts so no need to ask the question.

You will get the train from Zurich HB, that's the main station and you check the timings at the station.

We usually drive right up to Bechenegg restaurant (at Bucheneggstrasse 522, 8143 Stallikon), it’s not exactly the viewpoint that you get from near the radio tower, but accessible by car. From there you can walk about 45 min to the next restaurant Felsenegg. You get the view along the hike and also a nice view from Felsenegg restaurant itself. To avoid any hiking, you can even drive up to Felsenegg (there is no exact address, but you can find it in google maps)

Hello, I plan to drive to Feldermoss parking and take the train to Uetliberg Mountain from there. How much is the train ride per person for this trip return? I googled and checked everywhere and can't find the fare information. And how bad is the hike for senior parents to the lookout.
Thank you

Hi,
The standard price should be 3.10CHF per person. You should walk to Uitikon Waldegg station and take train from there. It takes about 10mins to get to the top. I don't know how fit are the parents :). I have seen old people doing it but I wouldn't recommend it for people elder than 70 years old.

How much time does it take to walk to the top and back to the parking? Is it possible to do within 2hours?
