The Zurich Town Hall is one of the most picturesque town halls I've ever seen.
Not because of it's architecture dating back to 17-18 c, but for its location. It is right on the Limmat river, so it seems like it is floating on it. Great photo op and a bar/cafe on a small sq by it.

Beatiful palace on the river, it was built in 1698 as the seat of government and administration of the republic of Zurich

We must have walked past that building 5 times last week and didn't really know it was the Town Hall. The architectural design is nice, and it sits right on the Limmat river near Grossmunster cathedral.

The town hall hade very nice bath room is the in the basement.
The Christmas Market hade exactly everything you can wish for in a market.
A beautiful Christmas tree

AND Santa Clause was driving the local train with an Angel

The pretty clean town on the lake side with the alps surrounding WOW

A building that is a "must see" for lovers of architecture. It is unfortunately only open a few hours on select days of the week for visitors. Some events are held in this location (outside the normal public opening hours), so check the tourist information site for details.

We passed this building several times and read it was open to the public within working hours. If you walk upstairs to the top floor you can see murals of old Zurich at each end of the building. Below the top floor are depictions of the guilds.

This is a neat building in that it is built over the river - but that is about it. There are much more interesting buildings right across the road in the old part of town - your time would be better spent exploring those instead.
