«People who know animals will protect them.»

Up above the city of Zurich, spanning a surface of approximately 27 hectares, is Switzerland’s largest and most frequently visited cultural and educational institution: Zoo Zurich. The popular nationwide excursion destination wants to get people interested in animals and encourage them to play an active role in nature conservation and the protection of species.

Very well laid out with plenty of animals and you can easily spend an entire day there... The animals are also extremely well looked after which is very important.. Plenty to see and the monkey house was amazing... Very accessible by tram from Zurich HB train station... Be prepared for quite a bit of walking but for a family day... More

The fundamental thing still wrong with it ?it is still a bloody zoo, I went because I was curious for the new Elephant range, it is an improvement but it still is a bloody zoo.

Ticket is not cheap, perhaps 20 Franc,or more,I remember it's really money worth. You can see very good conditioned animals in very natural occasions. You can see Penguin swimming in the water from the glass windows, eat fish when the staff throw it. Elephants power sand over themselves. Many kinds animals live in a space together with some kind birds because they live... More

The zoo itself is nice However please avoid the "Nachtwandeln" during the evening/night you will hardly spot any animal as all of the animals sleep at night. And for a 1 hour morning tour in the Zoo prior to public opening hours the proce is too high

Loved this zoo - many excellent exhibits Elephants / Rainforest / Snow Leopards / Spectacled Bears etc (apes not so good!). Well worth a visit we spent easily 6 hours there and could have stayed longer! Friendly staff and good places to eat. I went in the early afternoon, it was relatively busy with lots of young family's and couples. It was nice to stroll around the Zoo at leisurely pace and take in the animals. The reptile house just inside the main gate is not to be missed, nor are the penguins! The elephant enclosure and indoor rain forest where also very... More

I visited the zoo with my 8-year-old nephew - we both had a great time. There is a lot to see, so it's best to plan enough time. if you want to see everything you'll need a good three hours, including breaks. Or plan your visit according to the animals you want to see. The zoo is quite spread out,... More

Really nicely kept and maintained. A bit expensive as everything in Zurich but worth it. Many animals and a good option to spend 2 to 3 hours. Tram #6 will take you there from the main station. Great for families.

The main thing you notice is the very large and natural habit for the animals. In addition a combinazion of different animals living together makes it interesting. The big tropical hall Massuala is a must to visit.

I loved that most of the animals there have a huge cage and most of them got renovated during the last few years. Especially the masoala hall and the new house for the elephants were quite impressive and absolutely worth a visit.
