Yes, my headline is correct... Zurich Zoo has been given accolades for being "in the forefront of animal welfare". However, they tie up a horse carcass for the Tigers to play with and tear to shreds. The horses serve as a type of entertainment for tigers/ lions and barbarians- I mean humans... Disgusting. Horses are beautiful animals. I know that... More

Zurich Zoo offers its visitors a great way to see animals in a 'close to natural' environment. The Zoo has invested a lot of energy and money to improve the conditions under which the animals live, and the result is stunning. Enjoy Masoala Hall, a tropic hall with a trail, see the elephants in their new home, etc. Beside seeing... More

Kids till 6 go for free. A family can obtain a family pass that grants an annual admission. Also during the rainy weather a hit as reptiles, fishes, elephants and monkeys are indoors.

Its not the best zoo I have been to, but its far from the worst. The rainforest habitat was excellent with free range lizards, monkeys, lemurs all over the place. The elephant enclosure was huge and the animals looked healthy and happy. It's easy to exit the zoo when you are leaving an exhibit thinking you are leaving the exhibit... More

Simply put, this zoo is great, especially with young children. We stayed in downtown Zurich and took the tram from the Opera house up to the zoo. It's a short walk from the station, and we bought tram and zoo tickets at a SBB station so we went straight to the entrance. No waiting in ticket lines. There are lockers... More

The zoo zürich is one of the most progressive zoos in the world, regarding animal welfare. New enclosures are built continously and the get wider with a more natural environment. If you like zoos in general, you definitively have to see this one in partucular!

Went with a few friends/animal lovers. And what to say, if you like animals, one will always love zoos. Think we hit a bad time though, as I think it was mating season. But was great fun! Specially loved that they had snow leopards!
