What a fab way to spend an afternoon in Zurich.
I have lived in Zurich for a few years and thought I knew it....wrong. Kerrin introduced us to dellghtful proprietors of small specialist sweet locations that I had completely missed in my years of wandering about Zurich.
Kerrin has an incredible wealth of knowledge about the history of sweets, desserts and chocolate which is shared in an interactive manner as you wander through the streets of Zurich. She has a great personality and really brings the history, the science and the art of chocolate and sweet making to life in a fun and entertaining way - to put it simply...she knows her stuff!
Our tour ended up being 3 hours not two, which whizzed past in a flash. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and Kerrin has whetted my appetite to try some of the great manufacturers discussed on the tour - I will be visiting the Felchlin shop tomorrow and will return to all of the places we stopped in!
All in all a VERY successful afternoon.

This was probably one of the best tours my friend and I did in Switzerland. The tour took us to chocolate places which are local and with excellent quality. You would have never have found those places in travel books nor talk to the owners, sample and learn about chocolate as we did on this tour. Kerrin (our tour guide) is fabulous, super friendly and was able to accommodate our tour day so we could enjoy ourselves without the rush of getting to the airport. Plus, it is a great way to walk around the Old Town neighborhood of Zurich. I would totally recommend this tour to anyone (chocolate and non chocolate lovers (you can always take some back as a souvenir for friends or family)) if you want to learn about the science art and passion of chocolate making in one of the most famous chocolate countries in the world.

Hot chocolate from heaven, forbidden truffles, and bacon chocolate (!) were all part the incredible Sweet Zurich Tour! Kerrin was a wonderful guide, taking us to hidden stores and more obvious (but often overlooked) shops in the Old Town. Now we know what to look for when choosing high quality chocolate products! We would certainly recommend this tour to visitors and locals alike.

I’ll start out with the tour guide, Sue. We thought she was very nice and was able to explain some interesting facts about chocolate history in Switzerland. So no complaints with our tour guide.
Now, one thing you need to realize before booking this tour is that it is primarily an educational tour. Definitely not a chocolate “food tour”. We visited a total of 4 artisanal Swiss chocolate shops (Hanold, Max, D’Oro, Chas-Challer), a cupcake shop, and an ice cream shop (Hasta) in 2.5 hours. This seems like a lot;. however, in terms of tastings throughout the whole tour, I received 1/5 of a mini cupcake, 3 small truffles, a small cup of drinking chocolate, ~7 chocolate chip sized chocolate samples (keep in mind that these are free in the shops if you go there on your own), and 2 quarter-inch ice cream samples (also free if you go on your own). All the tiny samples were great, but nowhere near the price tag of 85 CHF per person. I understand that you are also paying for the educational component as well, but still insanely overpriced. I kept thinking during the tour, “Wow, did I really just pay 85 CHF for this? Dang...”.
Switzerland can be expensive to visit, and you are going to spend lots of money on your vacation in this beautiful country (most of it well worth it). But do yourself a favor: If you are thinking about booking this tour, STEER CLEAR and save yourself some money by just visiting artisanal Swiss chocolate shops on your own. Overall, I have to give this tour a 1 star for it’s extremely poor value.

I want to start with the tour guide, Christine, was quite nice. My issue is how poorly planned and how little is offered for the price. We had 10 people in our "private" tour. Some stores couldn't even accommodate that number of visitors.
We visited a few shops. We didn't have set times to visit. So we basically fought for a place to sit, look around, a place was already booked by another group, and one store we walked into just to smell and leave........the store workers seemed quite offended.
Tour should start and stop at the same location. Or provide a guide map. We don't live in Zurich. Luckily the guide had to catch a train so she took us along. There should be dedicated times for the group to arrive at each shop. We didn't see a factory. I didn't see chocolate being made. That was disappointing. You can call it a Sweets Tour to avoid doing a factory, but it's misleading.

I liked this tour because we did a lot of walking, a good bit of talking, and had a healthy dose of tasting. We learned about chocolate, history, and chocolate history. Our guide took us to several shops that were off the beaten path and nowhere did I feel pressure to purchase. However, if you have been on a Zurich city tour (I recommend the daily "Free Walking Tour" that meets at 11 am at Paradeplatz) you will see and learn much of what is on the Sweet tour. It started a little slow, but by the end I felt like I had learned (and tasted) something new. I only give it three stars because 75 Francs was a lot to pay for the experience.

I have been living in Zürich for a few years now and would have to admin I thought that Sprungli and Lindt produced some of the best chocolate until I went on the Sweet Tour with Kerrin! Kerrin takes to a few of the most fantastic boutique stores within Zürich where you get to sample the products they stock, speak with owners and begin to understand chocolate as a lifestyle instead of just a treat!

I had the pleasure of taking the Sweet Zurich Tour with MyKugelhopf.ch founder Kerrin Rousset. Kerrin took us on a wonderful tour of the city that showed me, someone who lives here, areas I had never before seen. A wonderful narrator and well versed in all things sweet you will surely walk away from this tour with new knowledge and a fresh view of chocolate and sweets in Switzerland.

My husband found out about this tour on TripAdvisor and I am SO glad we did it.. it was totally worth every Swiss franc! Kerrin is a wonderful tour guide - so easy to talk to and personable. She took us to some amazing places we would have never found on our own and taught us so much about the many different chocolates of Switzerland. We were able to talk to all of the store owners and sample the different chocolates, which is something we would have never done on our own. If you are interested in learning about delicious chocolate, sampling it, and learning a bit about its history (as well as the history of Zurich), I HIGHLY recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed.

My sister and I heard about this tour and contacted Kerrin before we arrived in Zurich. She was great to schedule our tour and keep in touch. We lucked out with a perfect day and loved the walk through the old town learning history of chocolate making and more.
This tour is highly recommended.

Hello, thank you very much for your interest in the sweet tour. Unfortunately the tour is not possible in the evenings, as all the shops are closed. Real sorry about that. Hope we'll have the chance to organize a tour for you should you be back in the city during a weekday. Enjoy your travels !

Hello Sofia, i'm not sure if you got my reply the other day; so I'll try again. Thank you for your interest in the Sweet Zürich tour ! The tour is absolutely appropriate for children - we have babes, toddlers and teens join quite often. It's a walking tour about 2-2.5 hours, with stops along the way to visit the shops and taste. The only problem would be if you don't want your girls having any sugar ;-) If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks again !

Hello, thank you for writing and for your interest in Sweet Zürich ! Unfortunately, there aren't any actual chocolate factories in Zürich. The one factory that many people hope to visit in Zürich is Lindt & Sprüngli, but they do not allow public visits (for hygiene reasons); you can simply go to their store there. The Sweet Zürich tour takes you around the old town to different shops, where you can taste and learn and talk and more. But it does not include actual factory visits.
If you would like to visit an actual chocolate factory, I would recommend the Cailler factory in Broc in western Switzerland. Otherwise, give the Sweet Zürich tour a try - taste, learn, discover and have fun ! :)
Sweet regards,
Kerrin Rousset
