Heidiland and Liechtenstein Tour from Zurich: Two Countries in One Day

1,000 reviews
If you want to visit "Heidiland" but don’t know the best way to get there, this day trip from Zurich is the ticket. You’ll visit the village of Maienfeld, where the beloved Heidi books were set, and spend time in Zurich and Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, too. It’s the perfect way to learn the region’s history and culture while following in the footsteps of Heidi in the Swiss mountains.

Very interesting art museum. There are both classical works and modern art. The museum is very well arranged and I think it is the most interesting in Zurich.

We were very impressed by the permanent collection of masters including Picasso, Monet and Van Gogh, as well as the temporary exhibition by Olafur Eliasson. This Icelandic artist created an extremely memorable interactive exhibition with lasers, smoke and prisms. Entering the smoke and laser exhibit felt like you were underwater. The artist's goal to influence people's attitude towards climate change through art was brilliantly executed ! This art museum was a highlight of Zurich.

This time we only visited the Olafur Eliasson show. Superb. In the past we have visited the rich permanent collections many times. The special exhibits are always strongly curated and elaborate it mounted.

Till 22-03 2020 Olafur’s displays with light, smoke and prisma’s can make you wonder how we observe light and movement. Nice exhibition. Best to buy a ticket for the entire museum, exhibition is a little short.

I was not particularly impressed by the slightly messy exhibition by Olafur Eliasson, while the Ottilia Giacometti exhibition was fantastic! The permanent exhibition is also really impressive, and I can very highly recommend this museum despite it’s high admission fee.
