- AmyTravelsLehighton, Pennsylvania131 contributionsFree on NYDMy friends were recouping from NYE while I ventured on my own. The museum was free NYD but someone said it's free on Wednesdays. The permanent art was free but the visiting pieces were not. Picasso and Andy Worhol were in same exhibit and cost 16Fr, but the girl at front desk said there is only 1 piece of Picasso to see, so I decided to skip the paying exhibit and see the free 1st and 2nd floors. I've spent a lot of time in many museums across Europe and I spent about 1 hour looking around. There is a cafe there if you need a small break afterward, a small gift shop and a free locker room for your coats and bags. You pick a locker with a numbered key and lock it, place the key in a safe pocket, then return the key for your things later. Was very convenient.Visited January 2020Traveled soloWritten January 3, 2020
- BHARDPennsylvania161 contributionsVery ImpressiveVisited on a Wednesday and entrance was free, but if not visiting on a Wednesday still worth the admission. Changing special exhibits and many works of famous masters. The museum is very well organized with interesting architecture. Should not be missed if visiting Zurich.Visited January 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten January 10, 2020
- mrsaxeman69 contributionsPlan for a long stayThe Kunsthaus is spread across two buildings, both massive, so take plenty of time (and comfy shoes). You can see everything from Old Masters to contemporary experimentalists, plus current exhibitions. Today I saw Yoko Ono's 'This Room Moves At The Same Speed As The Clouds'. Two vast spaces with so many curated collections, classics and immersive ideas is enough to make your head spin. I recommend a coffee break early, perhaps stop for lunch before crossing Heimplatz and diving into another enormous array of sculptures, canvases and even views from the window to gladden your heart. Maybe make a weekend of it, especially if it's raining. Heads-up - admission is free on Wednesdays and it's one of the few places open on a Sunday. A highlight for art lovers.Visited May 2022Written May 6, 2022

Superb museum. We were there for the special and temporary exhibition of Nikki De St Phalle's various arts (until Jan 2023). The building is super modern. You can pass by the undergroud passage to reach the other building on the other side of the road, very useful when it's raining or cold. On the other building this is the permanent collection with painting from Van gogh, Cezanne, Braque, Picasso, Modigliani, etc... Very large room very well litten.
The admission comes at the rate of CHF 23, you receive a sticker with a letter showing what you paid for and gives you acces to all room (letter K) without any question asked. There are larges areas with lockers (It's free) where you can leave your stuff during your visit. Open from 10h00 to 20h00

We spent a couple of hours at the Kunsthaus, our first visit there for a few years. The brand new "Chipperfield" wing is incredibly lovely with lots of natural light. The collections are fascinating too with a great variety of artists (lots of Swiss as well which is great).
Negative things? Getting from floor to floor if you don't do stairs well is slightly complicated. Lifts seem to go for a floor or two and then you have to get out and find another one. It is manageable though. What was a nuisance once in the old wing (where the Hodlers are) were three or four steps down with no railings. I have a problem with stairs and I am glad my husband was there to help me down them. I don't know why those steps are there without railings or a ramp...
Had some water in the bar at the entrance and I do think 5.50frs for a small bottle of water is just a little pricy - even for here!

This museum has a great collection. As well as having a good survey of western art, it has in depth collections of Munch, Alberto Giacometti and the Giacometti family, and of Swiss artists. Especially noticeable were the works of Ferdinand Hodler. There is a very nice Monet Water Lilies. A great museum to visit.

We were very impressed by the permanent collection of masters including Picasso, Monet and Van Gogh, as well as the temporary exhibition by Olafur Eliasson. This Icelandic artist created an extremely memorable interactive exhibition with lasers, smoke and prisms. Entering the smoke and laser exhibit felt like you were underwater. The artist's goal to influence people's attitude towards climate change through art was brilliantly executed ! This art museum was a highlight of Zurich.

Due to some fire damage in the main gallery it was possible to only visit the collection in the opposite building. But what a collection.
All the greats of modern art are here. Miro has a couple of works. Monet and Manet are well represented. A large Water Lily Pond amongst the former's.
Cezanne’s The Old Gardener and Boy in Red Waistcoat are just some of his on display. An more optimistic Van Gogh is the pleasant Blossoming Chestnut Branches.
Two Friends by Toulouse-Lautrec in additional to a fine portrait by the same artist are grand. Unsurprisingly a few by Picasso are to be admired.
A fabulous spend of a couple of hours.

For living in the city, this was only the second time I'd been to the Kunsthaus. Discovered many works by Swiss artists, but also Swiss artists I didn't know.
Currently, you can visit the still empty new building, with an installation by William Forsythe, 8 former church bells sound the otherwise empty rooms. The extension of the Kunsthaus is a success. I look forward to the exhibitions in the generously sized rooms. The new building will be opened as part of the museum in autumn 2021.

Just visited the Kunsthaus Museum in Zurich and I have to say, it was an incredible experience! The collection of art is world-class and the building itself is stunning. I was blown away by the variety of works on display, from classic pieces to contemporary art. The staff was also incredibly friendly and helpful, making the visit even more enjoyable. If you're a lover of art, I highly recommend a visit to the Kunsthaus Museum. You won't be disappointed! #KunsthausZurich #ArtLovers #MuseumVisits #TravelGoals

While visiting Zurich we had a rainy day and decided to explore this museum. My wife and I were surprised at the expansive collection and experienced a new installation that introduced us to an unfamiliar artist. The staff and the facility were engaging and provided us many surprises within the many galleries encompassing several buildings.

A collection of modern, impressionist and post impressionist works shown in a wonderful space. We spent over four hours which included a break for coffee and cake at the cafe. They have free lockers where you can leave coats, backpacks, umbrellas, etc.
