We were a little surprised with how much we enjoyed this museum. It was well organised and interesting. The museum begins in prehistory and concludes in the modern age. We didn't spend too much time on any one area and moved quickly.

When I went in August 2016, there was a temporary exhibit on the Europe Renaissance period and this seemed to be the main attraction, occupying all the main halls. Although interesting at first, it got a bit boring towards the end. The permanent exhibit on Swiss history was rather boring and does not seem to be the main attraction there.... More

We enjoyed the temporary exhibit on the Renaissance in Europe. The rooms were laid out expertly with good use of space and a variety of exhibit types to keep it interesting. Some were even interactive. They had some good art (some we recognized from our high school textbooks!) and a thorough treatment of the Renaissance. This was by far one... More

I saw the Europe in the Renaissance exhibition, it was very broad but lots of interesting pieces. The building is very modern and minimal inside despite the castle like appearance from the outside. The museum shop is full of beautiful things. I enjoyed a quick visit as part of a day in Zurich.

The clever display techniques, especially in the Archeology section with its touch screen reader iare superb. If you ever wanted to teach a "history denier" the value of a museum, you should start with this one!

It costs CHF 10 per person. We were told to check in our backpacks and purse. The locker costs CHF 1 but you do get it back when you retrieve your stuff. Exhibitions were a mix, some interesting others were quite boring. The place is huge, prepare to spend at least 3 hours in there. Once you enter the exhibition... More

Well this is one of the interesting place I visited in Zürich. Most of the things in Switzerland are expensive but I think 10 Swiss Fr.is very worthy to spend for this spot. It is one of the biggest museum I have seen during my stay in Europe.. it's a must to explore and see this place. I rarely give... More

This exhibition is very well curated. The collection of objects, chosen to show the spread of ideas, art, skills and political life across Europe during the renaissance has a breadth and depth that might interest anyone. The objects on display are well presented and the interpretive material is very well written and in a number of languages. There are aspects... More

The museum is really big and has a lot of historical pieces but could get a bit boring, especially if traveling with young kids since there aren't any activities for them, but if you are interested in Renaissance Europe this would be the prefect place for you.

Even if you do not have time to go into all of the exhibits, please try to go to this museum. The architecture alone is worth the visit!
