This 12th-century cathedral has both historical and architectural significance: Ulrich Zwingli led an important sect of the Reformation from here in the early 1500s, and the cathedral's twin towers serve as perhaps the most recognizable landmarks in modern Zürich.

Old and interesting muenster in the middle of the city. Nice location on the bank of Limmat river. Interesting glass windows inside and outstanding organ - check for recurrent concerts on the muenster website.

A great find , good excercise you had to climb 184 stairs to tower top. Worth the climb for photos over looking Zurich.

Grossmunster is a protestant church in the centre of old Zurich built upon an ancient roman burial ground. Its twin towers are amongst the most recognizable structures in Zurich. It is home to beautiful stained glass.

Grossmunster church stays near to the Limmat margin river, the other side of St. Peter's Church. Go inside and relax a while. When you feel prepared, buy the ticket to go up to top. There are 187 steps to the top, but it's worth it!

I have to say, I really, really like the Grossmünster. I love the sliced agate windows by Sigmar Polke and seeing it lit up at night. The views from Karl Sturm tower are amazing and you can stop at each of the four viewing platforms, after paying 4 Fr and climbing 187 steps. The beginning steps are spiraling, very narrow... More

A nice place - the crypt is very interesting (original Charlemagne statue that has been replaced on the exterior; ancient paintings of martyrs Felix and Regula), the inside is quite lovely, and the 'secret' cloister garden is a nice quiet walk. But the best part is the view from the Turm (tower). It costs something like 8 Fr. to go... More

Be sure you climb the 180+ steps to the top of the church spire. The views of Zurich, the river and Lake Zurich are incredible. The Giacometti stained glassed windows are not to be missed.

It is definitely a nice Church, although it cannot be compared with Notre Dam or Westminster The visit to one of the towers is a must, as you can have view of the entire city, Zurich lake and the river Limmat
