Not only is the flea market a great place to find vintage stuff, but it is also right next to the lake. So, after strolling through the market, you can relax at the lake with a beautiful view of the mountains.
Great atmosphere. I've been visiting for years.

It was a Friday when we visited, it wasn’t a flea market, it was a farmers’ market with a wide selection of fruits, vegetables, flowers, breads, meats, cheeses, and honey for sale.
On this wet and dreary day there were more vendors than shoppers.

To be honest I arrived at this place by accident, after walking all along Bahnhofstrasse from the other end. At first I was puzzled by the presence of street vendors since I have not seen any others in the city... then I figured what was going on and spent like 15 min in the park, among the tables. And I have to continue being honest and to say that I did not see even 1 interesting item. Some pocket knifes that were also available in the shops across the river, an old analogue telephone that was regularly used in Switzerland in the 70's .. clothes, vinyl disks in a not very good shape... lots of ugly pseudo hand-crafted jewellery ... absolutely nothing spectacular at all. Now, you might say, what did you expect ? I don't know, I must amswer. Maybe some power tools, maybe some other kitchen tools than just one used bread toaster... But I really was not impressed at all.

The Flohmarkt at Burkliplatz is held every Saturday morning starting at 7 a.m. As it was late fall, the vendors are setting up in the dark and deals were already being made before at the opening hour. Some vendors come with tables to display their goods while others just place their items on the ground. The more experienced vendors seem to have tables, tents, and more to protect from rainy or sunny conditions during the day.

It’s a bit hectic as the place first opens as vendors are driving in with their cars, trucks and wagons setting up in the dark as visitors are already running around and looking for that early morning special item that they have been looking for or the item(s) that just may look good on them or in their house. Its fun to look around, but I did not find anything that caught my interest on this visit.

There is a water fountain, small men’s restroom, a couple of vendors selling food/snacks and a food grill kiosk located at Burkliplatz.
