Heidiland and Liechtenstein Tour from Zurich: Two Countries in One Day

1,000 reviews
If you want to visit "Heidiland" but don’t know the best way to get there, this day trip from Zurich is the ticket. You’ll visit the village of Maienfeld, where the beloved Heidi books were set, and spend time in Zurich and Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, too. It’s the perfect way to learn the region’s history and culture while following in the footsteps of Heidi in the Swiss mountains.

My boyfriend and I went backpacking around Europe and decided to stop in Zurich for a couple days as we wanted to visit the Zurich Street parade on 10/08/19. We only spent around 3 hours there in the afternoon as we had other plans for the day. It thought it was a really fun, lively atmosphere where the whole city comes together to enjoy themselves. I’m not the biggest fan of techno music but I enjoy it in the right environment which I think this was. There was lots of different slow-moving trucks with various Dj’s on and some big stages, like Elrow, which stayed still. There was lots of food and drink stalls along the way too. A lot of people chose to dress up but it’s perfectly fine to dress casual as-well. It was a crazy experience that I enjoyed however the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because of how crowded it was. Wouldn’t recommend for people who are claustrophobic as you had to squeeze past lots of (drunk) people who were constantly standing on your feet, (my white trainers were wrecked after this.) It was also very hot that day and the queues for the toilets would leave you waiting at least 40 mins. Apart from this I think it’s definitely something to consider going to if you’re thinking of coming to Zurich.

We had no idea that the one day we had reserved for Zurich was the same day of the Pride Parade. This may be why some locations were closed and there were no boats running on the river. I will say there are a ton of people and the parade route was unbelievably long. I will also say it looked like everyone was having fun and the music was blaring, but it was not much of any event by Gulf Coast standards. No one was throwing anything. I'm used to beads, candy, coins, shirts and stuffed animals. If you are from somewhere that does not have parades, this may be great. However, if you want a real parade, come to the American Gulf Coast for a much better experience.

Annual zurich street parade takes places every year in zurich opposite lake zurich. For all the party animals this is a must go event. Party starts around 2 p.m and continues for more than 24 hours. Closer to a million visitors participate for this with amazing costumes. More than 30 moving stages will be there and people party hard. Zurich Lake area will be blocked during the party and many famous DJs around the world will be there to entertain. Its party time in zurich...
