About
Casino Barrière de Montreux is home to the legendary “Mountain Studios” which has seen a parade of artists such as David Bowie, The Rolling Stones or Queen walk through its doors. In 2013, the venue was renovated to include an exhibition space entirely dedicated to Queen, which recorded six albums there between 1978 and 1995.

The only reason we stopped in Montreux on our 8 days Swiss tour was this studio and Freddie's statue.
Montreux is a nice small lakeside town, but we've seen many such on our tour, while this place is worldwide unique.
First of all, I would like to thank the management for keeping this attraction free of charge. Many of us - fans, would pay an entry ticket for it, but it's important to be free for younger generations to learn more about this historic band.
Entry to the studios is through the Casino, left from the entrance.
Queen recorded some 6 or 7 albums here. Museum is compact, but informative displaying instruments, stage costumes, hand written songs and personal items.
One of the highlights is the original mix control room where you can mix several Queen hits. Behind the mix chair is a plaque on the floor where Freddie recorded his last vocals which was very moving.
Count less than an hour for a visit.

The Queen Studio Experience is an incredibly powerful and moving tribute to Freddie Mercury’s memory. To see his hand written lyrics on scraps of crumpled paper was amazing. He wrote brilliant songs with a pen and whatever scrap of paper was around. It was a demonstration of his artistic genius. I highly recommend coming to the Queen Studio if you are ever in Montreux and please leave a donation for the Mercury Phoenix AIDS Trust.
Thank you Brian, Roger and Deaky (and Miami) for creating such a special place to honor Queens music and legacy.

Cheers,

Penelope

I dislike casinos, but it was worth entering this one for the Queen Studio Experience. Its a bit of an eclectic mix, but there's enough here to keep visitors satisfied. Costumes, mementoes, music and a mixing studio where you can fun re-mixing a Queen track. Also an excellent documentary to give context.

This was a real deep dive in Queen´s and in particular Freddie Mercury´s history. The band recorded seven Albums in this studio and you can sit in the original Control Room and even mix the lead voice with the other instruments. The last Freddie´s song he ever recorded was "Mother Love" and he was singing in the tiny Control Room of the Studios. You can mix this song and also "Made in Heaven". However, the original NEVE Mixer was unfortunately replaced with a plastic version of it. I think they should have kept the original mixer and sealed it to prevent visitors to touch it. Many costumes and instruments used by Queen in many concerts (including Live Aid) are also part of the museum. Roger Taylor and Brian May provide good explanations via video recording. You should not miss visiting the Queen Studio Experience!

This is the most beautiful clean, personal museum I have ever been in. It’s truly magical, all of the items just blow you away. You can truly see why Queen loved it so much.
I went with my daughter and grandaughter aged 22 months. We were made to feel so welcome. It’s in the most breathtaking place ever, overlooking Lake Geneva. Truly unforgettable trip.

We were on a tour in Switzerland and Montreux was one of our stops for 2 nights. Another person on our tour recommended the Queen Studio Experience after gone the night before. I am so glad we took the time to find it. And yes, it is in an odd place...inside a Casino. Go straight in the front door and turn left and follow the trail of memorabilia to the exhibit. Though it is free a donation is suggested.

Great collection of costumes, hand written lyrics, and other items. Sit for a while and watch the film that plays on a loop. And definitely don't miss playing with the mixing board. That was incredibly fun.

If you find yourself anywhere within driving distance of Montreux it is worth a stop to see the Freddy Mercury statue down on the lakefront and then into the casino for the exhibit. Great place to visit.

This attraction was the main reason for us to drive to Montreux. The experience was slightly underwhelming, but considering the free entry, it’s hard to complain. The worst part was that several several screens/headsets (black screen) and the actual studio room (no sound) were not working. Disappointing. I would prefer them to take a small entry fee and then maintain and improve the experience instead.

A collection of memorabilia from Queen and Freddie Mercury, this is a must for any Queen fan. Housed in the Casino, we did have a little problem finding it, but trust me, it exists. The free entry was an added bonus.
Queen had recorded at a Studio here in Montreaux, so to have this museum here is very apt. The costumes, letters and memorabilia were great and I learnt a lot about Freddie and the band.

This was an interesting attraction. Small, no fee to walk through. Would have loved to have had better lighting. Seems dark so some things hard to see.
Remarkable that instruments and costumes were on display as well.
Enjoyed walking through this. The casino needs to have the times etc marked better as we had to ask then come back.

It was so wonderful to visit the Queen Mountain Studio. It was such a worthwhile morning. I was moved by the memorabilia from Freddy’s costumes to pages of handwritten lyrics. Imagine all the greats who had recorded there over the years from Queen to Bowie to the Stones! I highly recommend this tour. BTW it’s a self guided tour.
