Not as special as we thought. I recommend taking the train to the factory if you're really interested, but honestly the best thing about the trip was the village of Gruyere--the castle was beautiful with an interesting modern art collection. Down the street, a museum that seemed to be based not the movie Alien. Not to mention all the cheese.

I recommend going to see the chocolate factory and the cheese factory but I would hire a car and driver if I could afford it. So much time was spent on the track waiting and the train was blazing hot. The views were stunning but the train ride itself was nothing special. The factories and town of Guyere were worth... More

This was a really different experience. A full day, it tours through the Gruyve cheese factory and town as well as the Nestle chocolate factory. The train ride itself is a great tour through the beautiful Swiss mountains. The ladies that host it are very knowledgeable and lovely. The train is very comfortable and it is like you are in... We missed the morning departure of the trip due to old information on their website's departure schedule and had to take two other trains to meet up with the tour. We arrived at Broc and joined the tour at Cailler chocolate factory. There were exhibits to see and lots of chocolate to eat. This was the best part of the... More

I am a person that feels the need to have chocolate EVERYDAY. So, I jumped at the chance to visit a chocolate factory. We boarded the Chocolate Train about 8:30 in the morning and it was an all day trip. As the train pulled away from the station we were served a chocolate filled pastry and choice of hot chocolate... Staying in the Montreaux area for a week meant we had plenty of time to include a day out on the chocolate train trip. We left Montreaux on the Golden Pass traditional train quite early as we wanted to get to the chocolate factory in Broc before the tour buses arrived. You change train at MontBovon - be careful about... More

Overall, this was a great day trip. The Golden Pass with the Swiss Chocolate Train included transportation to the Cailler chocolate factory in Broc, the town of Gruyères, and a cheese factory. The pass also covered the entry into both factories and tour guides to ensure you made the bus connections at each location and knew where to be when.... More

I had recently heard of the chocolate train and was so excited to make plans. We made a special trip to Montreux just to take the train. It did not disappoint. We drove down to Montreux the day before and stayed over night. We wanted to be rested and enjoy the day. It leaves early in the morning. We were... More

One of the nicest experience we had during the visit. We visited a cheese factory, a chocolate factory and a small lovely Swiss village. The chocolate factory showed us how to prepare chocolate and offered us unlimited chocolates to eat for free :). For small children it will be a lovely experience. Cheese factory also offered us free cheese. There... More

We specifically planned our time in Montreux, so we could do the Swiss Chocolate Train. Our girls love gruyere cheese and our family of 5 loves chocolate. They served a croissant filled with chocolate on the ride there along with either coffee, juice or chocolate milk, which I had and it was tasty. The scenery was beautiful and our first... More
