My wife, teenaged son and I were looking for something to do on a rainy day. This museum was an excellent find. The exhibits were interesting, covered a range of subjects in Montreux's history, and several had interactive aspects. The building itself is a well-maintained example of period architecture. There is not English translation for all of the content, but... More

My husband and I wandered into this museum while walking around looking for l'Eglise St Vincent in Montreux. This delightful Museum looks deceptively small from the outside. It is filled with many rooms displaying artefacts from different ages throughout the centuries. Each room is themed, such as a room dedicated to different types of thimbles used throughout time. How cool... More

We happened on the museum by chance, walking around the Old Town and were the only visitors on a Saturday morning. The visitors card from our hotel reduced the admission from Chf6 to Chf3 per person and gave us a fascinating hour and a half of the history of the area, woodworking, farming, quarrying etc etc. Well worth a visit

I love this museum; it is all located in a very old house and is very atmospheric in giving an idea of how people lived in times past. It is not especially children-friendly in that there is more looking & reading than activities (so not like a UK museum!) - my kids enjoy it, but will whizz around in an... More

This little museum in the old part of Montreux is a MUST, it tells the story of Montreux and surroundings, from ancient times until today. Set i a beautiful old building within 5 minutes walk from the train station or town center, visiting it gives you a special feeling about this small but incredible town. Thanks to people who worked... More

This museum in an old house in the old Vieux Montreux is worth a visit during a rainy day, and gives an insight into how life was before Montreux was created in earlier in the 20th century. Roman coins and the like are on display, as well as period furniture. The nearby Caveau des Vignerons provides an excellent and authentic... More

Visited in August with 3 children. We used the riviera card ( a new thing i think?) the total cost was only 3 francs-unbelievably good value. Very friendly receptionist who chatted to the children and praised their (poor) french. We took about an hour to do the whole thing as the children don't look for very long at any one... More
