Not only is this a very beautiful chateau to look at from the outside but the inside is also interesting. You are able to get round lots of the castle. There are lots of interesting stories about the chateau. You are given an informative leaflet for free (many different languages to chose from) or you can hire an audio guide... More

Wheel chair access somewhat limits full exploration; however the external walls, lake front and revealed views make for a pleasant visit.

Built on granite, this old castle is interesting. It's rooms are mostly empty. The audio guide is a very good way to get around the castle. If visiting, do take it. A nice little gift shop. Lots of ups and downs so take water and have intermittent rests if you're not in good shape. All in all, interesting.

Didn't realise the extent of the Byron connections but you learn something new every day ! Not really suitable for those of limited mobility sadly, but can't really see any way round that

I was not expecting much and thought about this place as of another tourist trap. But I was very surprised to see that it is much more interesting. History, culture, anecdotes, small exhibitions set up in some rooms. Great views, very well restored.

We arrived at Chateau de Chillon as a last activity of the day around 17:30. The Chateau closes at 19:00 with last entrance at 18:00. However, they told us that after 17:00 they don't out audio-guides - strange. The Chateau is one of the oldest preserved forts of the Middle Ages in Switzerland. It is located on a tiny islet... Beautiful and so interesting! So much history! It's set on the edge of the lake. There is a walking avenue to, along the lake. It is a must see when in Montreux!

When I arrived Geneva 8 years ago I visited Chateau de Chillon for my first trip in Switzerland. I still remember it very well. Later I visited it with my ex-girlfriend 5 years, very romantic.

This castle is definitely worth a visit. Next to lake Geneva, full of history, in a wonderful setting. At this moment, take care, traffic is dense due to holidays and roadworks.

This is a story book castle. Very pretty from outside. I am not interested much of history and this is my third time visiting so I walked through it pretty fast. I love how this castle looks in different weather and light - very romantic! Toilet (large plank of wood with holes) drains directly into lake water. I thought it... More
