I took a bit of a gamble when booking this trip as it had no previous trip advisor reviews. It was a gamble that certainly paid dividends! The whole experience was fantastic and I could not be more complimentary of the tour guides, both of whom were very knowledgeable and great people.

The day started off with a boat trip on a traditional boat on lake Geneva that lasted around 30 minutes. From there we were taken on a walk around various wine regions with some spectacular views. For me this was the highlight of the experience (and this was even before any wine was drunk). After walking for just over an hour we arrived at the vineyard which was a beautiful setting surrounded by flowers in a very remote area. We were then introduced to the wine maker who was an interesting character! We were then given 7 wines to taste and a platter of typical Swiss meat and cheese. The day was concluded with a train journey back alongside the lake directly to the hotel. The whole experience lasted around 5 hours.

The cost was 85 CHF per person which is extremely cheap relative to the costs of everything else in Geneva.

I do not have one bad thing to say about the experience, it really did make our weekend memorable!

My wife and I just came back from a Swiss trip in mid-November. No doubt the highlight of our trip was the Lavaux vineyards wine tour we did with WineMax. Marielle and Jerome picked us up at the Lausanne Old Town, from there we headed to the UNESCO protected Lavaux terrace vineyards. We had a blast!!! Marielle and Jerome are very knowledgable and super friendly, our first stop had great views of the vineyards and Jerome opened up a bottle of a great Chasselas.

Our second stop was just fantastic. We stopped by the Domain Bovy winemaker's house to check out the vineyard, the cellar and hangout in their terrace. There we met with Bertrand from the Bovy vineyard and we had some amazing wine, including Le Castor Bleu Brut, Optimus, and all the Chasselas you could imagine.

Our tour was in the late afternoon so we had a chance to see the sunset over at Bovy's and it was spectacular. After the sunset we went inside, visited the cellar and continued the tasting. We had an amazing time, made new friends and had wonderful conversations, just what you are supposed to do with great wine.

Thanks to Marielle and Jerome from WineMax and Bertrand from Bovy you made our trip memorable.

An excellent afternoon. Our driver picked us up at our hotel in Lausanne right on time and escorted us to two wineries in beautiful Lavaux, He introduced us to the winerey owners, explained the terroir and made sure we had a chance to compare and appreciate (and buy!) local wines. It is well worth making arrangements and paying ahead in advance. Go and enjoy!

It has taken me a while to get around to this review, but I feel that fellow TripAdvisor users need to be aware of how this guide conducts business.

I initially emailed in late January 2015, inquiring about a tour for May 2015. I emailed back and forth with Jerome a few times, and we picked a day and time for our tour. Jerome then informed me that the tour needs to be paid for in full via wire transfer at least 48 hours before the day of the tour.

This should have been my first warning. My wife and I have done many wine tours in Italy and France, and none of the other tour guides asked me to wire them money. Most accept a credit card deposit, and many just request that I pay for the tour in cash the day of the tour.

Regardless, I confirmed with Jerome that we were confirmed for our tour, and I told him that I would wire him the money in early May (our tour was May 30). Jerome replied and said that we were confirmed.

On April 3, I wrote Jerome and simply asked if there was another option instead of wiring the money because I am in the United States and the fee is very high. Jerome then wrote me back and said he can no longer accommodate my tour on May 30 and asked if I could do May 25. We were going to be in France on that date, so I told him that wouldn't work and reminded him that we were confirmed.

Jerome's response was that if I had paid him upfront he wouldn't have given my day away to someone else. I'm sorry, but I find this completely ridiculous. I emailed him and told him that I would wire the money in early May. If he had a problem with this, he should have let me know. If he was about to give my tour to someone else, he should have asked me first and given me a chance to send him the money, which I would have done.

Planning a European trip from the United States has its challenges, but Jerome is the only tour guide whom I have had this issue with. I find the way that he handled the situation very unprofessional. After seeing the way he operates his business, I'm glad I didn't wire him the money because he may have taken the money and ran with it. Avoid this company!!!

Dear David, We thank you for your review. As per our email sent to you on 29 January 2015, our booking conditions are the following: "The booking will be considered final once the payment received by Winemax, not later than 48 hours before arrival." We already apologized per email for this regrettable misunderstanding. The company is held by professional, having successful experiences with both professional partners and private travelers. Even some travelers who went sick or had some other key problems cancelled in due time (48 hours prior to their tour), all of them have been fully refunded without penalty fees. We regret that you pretend and write without any proof to all the TripAdvisor community that we would have run with your money, as this is totally the opposite way we proceed. Kind regards, Winemax Team For Trip Advisor community, here is the copy of the email sent to David on April 10th 2015: "Unfortunately, we do have many clients who say they want to book our tour and then cancel without delay. That's the reason why we sent to you our booking & payment conditions last 29th of January, mentioning: "The booking will be considered final once the payment received by Winemax". Of course if you would have paid before, the full guarantee of your tour would have been set. Please also note that we do refund our client who cancel 48hours prior to their arrival, without any penalty. This are flexible conditions that you will not find everywhere. I hope you can understand that we gave priority to travelers who already paid. Finally, we inform you that we are a boutique company. It is important for us to provide our guests with the best quality of service which means that we - both founders - want to be presents in persons on each tour. Again, we do understand your disappointment and would like you to accept our apologies. "

Had a great afternoon with Xavier. Very knowledgeable of the area and was even able to get us in to an impromptu tasting. My only recommendation is to book a full day if you can. I booked 4 hours, he actually took the time to go over and allow me to lengthen my tastings and the company of others (the last tasting was like spending time with a family! :-)...). If you can, take the time to step back and spend the day!

~Booked & Paid online via bank transfer after reading reviews and choices we had for a Sunday wine tour (not many)

~my wife & I were picked up from Montreux which was a little different from the normal tour starting at Lausanne (a little late)

~the car was a cute little thingy with a side door stuck but our guide was the friendliest with great local knowledge of the area where she grew up so..

~the history lesson & views were just as fantastic as the wines we got to taste

~we started towards Lavaux a UNESCO World Heritage site for wine growing and had our first surprising stop at Cave du Daley....OMG just narrow lanes of up and up weaving and an AMAZING view of the afternoon Lake Geneva

GEM#1 Cave du Daley is not exactly opened on Sunday, it's sorta opened anytime you can get up there :) it's an outdoor "fridge" you serve yourself a red or white and drop cash into a collection slot (guide paid as it was included)

GEM#2 Take a short walk to any little hut in the middle of the vineyard "le Capite" is where you can sit and have a drink in sun & shade and enjoy the company :)

~next we drove to Domain Bovy where we went into a heated glass dining area to take shelter from the drizzle and had a ton of cheese sticks while wine sampling with the winemaker Bertrand

The best one we had is Optimus (diolinoir) followed by Les Adrets (pinot noir / gamay)

GEM#3 in the outdoor terrace, the colorful garden is a great place to watch the sunset

HIGHLIGHT - inside the Bovy Cellar we'd a great time, talking about the paintings on the barrels and tapping into them

WINEMAX did an amazing job putting together a 4 hour drive out to the vineyards on a Sunday afternoon KUDOS. I'd recommend this in a heartbeat :)

I recommend touring the local vineyards. The wines are wonderful and the views are breathtaking!!! The people are very interested in your opinion and want to teach you about wines and the process.

My wife and I spent a few days in Lausanne in June. We took this tour one afternoon and had a fantastic time. The views of the Alps, the lake and the Lavaux vineyards you see on the Ferry ride and the hike are incredibly beautiful (the pictures I attached were taken on my iPhone and don't do it justice). The gentle hike to the winery takes about 1.5 hours and gives you an opportunity to chat with the tour guide and casually enjoy the scenery while getting a bit of exercise (sneakers recommended). The owners of the winery were friendly, warm and very generous. We spent several hours that afternoon with Marielle (our tour guide) and the winery owners sitting around a table in the garden, overlooking the lake and the Alps sipping wine and sharing stories. By the end of the tour it felt like we were all old friends. There was nothing gimmicky about the tour - it was an extremely authentic experience, which is exactly what we wanted. We will remember the afternoon fondly.

This was an amazing tour- again I was nervous as the company is new but put your worries aside as the owners are from the area and very knowledgeable. Marielle and Jerome were very friendly and personable! They also showed great flexibility when we changed our tour to a driving tour as the weather had been a bit shaky. My parents are also a bit old so Marielle designed the tour around their abilities, but my sister and I (mid-20s) also had a blast.

We especially enjoyed the relaxed nature of our wine tasting and that we didn't feel as if we were on a big group tour. Their choice of wine maker for us to visit was spot on and we had a great time. Overall, one of the best experiences of our 10-day Europe tour.
