It was ok but maybe because of the bad weather I was not so impressed. It was easy to reach with the bus, it stopped less than 5 minutes away from the tower. Also it looks very high but going upstairs was not so exhausting. Entrance is free but check the closing hours as there is a door which you open with a button, perhaps after the working hours the button stops working. There were many families playing with children by the lake and forest nearby.

Very nice wooden structure. The stairs are steep but the climb is definitely worth it. On a sunny day you can see tens of kilometres away. The entrance is free but the steep climb is definitely not for everybody.

...until the end of June. It's quite a hike from the city (all uphill), unless you take the bus, but it does seem like there would be a lovely view from the top when it reopens. There's a playground and Movenpick cafe close by if you're traveling with kids.

In the middle of a nice countryside park area. Can have a nice stroll in the park even if you don't go up this - however, very nice views of Lausanne / lake Geneva from the top. Free to enter, but it's quite a lot of steps. Best public transport route is via the Metro to the edge of the park

A great construction work and worth it to see, but not possible to climb up at the moment. Anyway a nice walk back to town within just 15 min.
Going up is possible by bus no. 16

Great views of Lake Geneva from atop this tower and best of all, it's free! Too bad it is very un-Swisslike poorly maintained. I was looking at the plaques commemorating the people and organizations that funded the building of the tower, and thought that if I were one of them, I wouldn't be too happy that my name could no longer be deciphered...
Don't go on a foggy/cloudy day.

Sauvabelin Tower is located in Sauvabelin forest and is easy accessible by bus 16. Take it from metro station Bessières and get off at Lac Sauvabelin. Takes about 15 minutes. You can stop at a restaurant or walk around the lake where you can see funny hairy pigs and other animals. If you are with children they will be delighted. From the lake it is only a few minutes’ walk to the tower. The wooden tower looks light and probably not so high from the bottom. You would not say so though when you go up to the top without stop. There are many nice tracks in the forest. Check the travel guides to locate the places with scenic views. You can walk back to the bus at the bottom of the hill. Very pleasant walk in a forest.

Even if you are only in Lausanne for 48 hours, make sure that you visit the tower.

Catch the 16 bus North (any map will have the bus routes on it) and get off at Signal, then you can enjoy a nice walk through the woods to the lake, where there is also a farm to walk around and a bar to have a drink at. On the way back through the woods follow the 'tour' signs and you will end up at the tower for some great panoramic views of Lausanne and the lake!

Don't forget your camera!

This was a great surprise as it is one of the few free things to do!!

the view from the top of the tower is wonderful, it's also really unique tour with a two-way staircase.

you catch the number 16 bus up and it takes you down a different route , so you get to see a whole lot of the city as well.

There is playgrounds, walks and views, you cant swim in the lake, but there is barbecue facilities and chairs and tables and Cafe.
