Zermatt Village Matterhorn Area plus Mt. Gornergrat Small Group Tour from Basel

2 reviews
Experience the unique day tour within a small group to the Matterhorn area, the glacier world and all-year-place of snow in the Alps. You meet your tour guide in Basel at the train station. Together you travel typically Swiss-style by train to Visp (2 hours) and from there by the coghwheel train to Zermatt. At Zermatt you will walk through the historical part of this alpine village and get many information about the history of climbing the Matterhorn. Your tourguide will lead you after that to the « Matterhorn railway », the coghwheel train that will take you to Mount Gornergrat, the best place for stunning views to the Matterhorn. Enjoy your time at your disposal (approx. 2 hours), where you can have lunch with a 360-degrees-panorama. You will travel back together with the tour guide to Zermatt, where the return travel via Visp to Bern will take place. Your tourguide will lead you to your train back to Zurich. Our local tour guide is happy to answer all your questions during the day.

Look no further and with no other travel agent or company because David and Alpine Exposure are INCREDIBLE. From the first phone conversation to the last text ensuring our safe arrival home, this is the person/company you want to do business with. Our family of four with varying ski abilities could have never managed this trip without David's awesome guidance and support. His knowledge is absolutely impressive like his wonderful personality, really understanding what you wish to get out of the experience. We have been skiing out West for the last ten years, however, skiing in Switzerland is like nothing else and, in my opinion, you do need guidance to navigate all of it. For two parents who work with no time to plan, David did practically everything for us! After doing this for 30 years, David knows everyone and everything about Zermatt Not only did David help us find a fabulous apartment for our family (complete with laundry and including delicious breakfast at a nearby hotel) but he arranged spectacular lunches with views, ski instructors, guidance around the mountains and including getting to the border of Italy.(border only due to the weather) The views were positively stunning and ones my family will never forget. David also included a truly SPECIAL afternoon with he and another instructor friend off piste with my 18 year old son. My son was in heaven and had a blast. From food to lodging to skiing to supplying train transfers, in advance to and from Zurich airport, to just about everything in between, this was a trip to remember. All of it thanks to David and Alpine Exposure. I have already had two friends book with David who have heard our story and learned of our amazing experience. Thank you David, we look forward to connecting with you in the future and sending lots of referrals!!!

Overall, a wonderful experience. David was personable and attentive. One suggestion..find out if clients intend to take a break during their ski experience to avoid confusion. Also send reminders to clients about dining reservations when made by the company. We missed a dining reservation that was on the schedule so a text that day would have helped us to remember.

Our family of five had an incredible few days with Dave. He was super professional and showed our family the mountain the first day and then tired us out off piste on our last.He made reservations for us at all the great on mountain lunch spots and offered up any help that we needed. My only regret was we didn’t connect earlier during the planning stage of our trip.We will definitely be calling Dave ( the Californian) to help us arrange our next trip to Zermatt!Five stars all the way.

Having been to Europe skiing only once before, it is a little intimidating to me as a skier going to Zermatt. The Alps are huge, there are about 50 lifts of one kind or another, and it just looks like you are going way up in the air to ski. So, it helps to have someone there who can assess your ability and lead you through a large mountain and find great snow. Alpine Exposures does a great job showing you all around this large ski mountain. I would not have had nearly as good an experience trying to navigate this on my own. But, that is just the beginning. They are great with hotels, restaurants, getting you there, trip planning, you name it. Small company that provides a lot of service at a reasonable cost.

David Court, from Alpine Exposure, helped us plan an absolutely fantastic trip to Zermatt over Christmas week 2018. He was incredibly responsive from our first interaction and his 30-year knowledge of Zermatt helped us have the best of everything. He knows absolutely everyone, in town, on the mountain, and in the restaurants. David took care of getting our train tickets from Zurich to Zermatt, suggested great hotels, made reservations at all the top restaurants, and skied with our family to guide us on the immense mountain terrain. We were a family of four with two 20-something kids, and all of our plans for the 6 days were perfect. We stayed right in the village at Chesa Valese, with a great two-floor room with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was a perfect location for accessing the lifts and walking to super restaurants in the evening. It's family owned and we would stay there again in a heartbeat. David knew all the best mountain chalet/farmhouses for exquisite lunches during the ski day and showed us the best runs on the mountain--on both the Swiss and Italian side.He was so customer service oriented and made sure we had a very personalized and customized experience. From meeting us at the train station, to taking us to get our ski rentals, to buying our lift tickets ahead of time, to booking a unique Christmas dinner at a restaurant on the mountain, complete with night-time sledding back to Zermatt Village, to taking us hiking in the rain and snow on the one poor weather day with lunch at an amazing mountainside restaurant (which was a great day by the way), to providing ski instruction on the slopes to improve everyone's skills. David is super friendly, accommodating, and very fun to hang out with.We would highly recommend David and Alpine Exposure if you want to have a special and stress-free winter adventure in Zermatt.
