David and the entire team at Alpine exposure provided us with an amazing introduction to Zermatt, the town and the mountain - covering all kinds of terrain on the mountain in the most fun, engaging and comprehensive manner. Dave himself knows Zermatt extremely well and made a quick assessment of our group and ensured all of us had a safe and challenging experience on the mountain. Dave made sure that we were able to cover many miles of Terrain in a day and get us back-and-forth to Italy effortlessly. His knowledge of Zermatt town and restaurants also really helped with a full experience over the course of the week

Learned of Alpine Exposures from Trip Advisor while looking for ski options in Zermatt. So thankful we did! David made our trip effortless and a true vacation by planning out all the details prior to booking. He met us in Zurich at the train station to help navigate us through a train hop in VISP and escorted us directly to our hotel lobby bar! We spent 4 days in Zermatt and, skied 3 of the days, 2 with David from Alpine Exposures and 1 on our own. The first day we skied in Switzerland and the snow wasn't the best quality as they were experiencing a low snowfall for that time of year. David was an awesome guide we covered over 6800 VM on our first day popping in at historic little shanties that served bier and some of most INSANELY DIVINE meals......white table cloths at 9000 feet wearing your ski gear is the best! Our second ski day we didn't cover near as much vm for the obvious reason of being in Uncharted territory and without David. We still enjoyed ourselves but couldn't wait for the 3rd day where we skied from Zermatt over into Cervino, Italy!!! The weather was incredible and the snow fell all night so the wide groomers were just perfect. Stopped and had coffee with a shot of grappe and had the BEST SKI DAY OF MY LIFE! David packed in a challenging, long, hard ski day as we wanted to test our skills he had been teaching us throughout the trip. My husband and I ended our trip with David skiing BETTER then we have ever achieved in our many years of skiing. Thanks David you rock! -Frantz families

Don't look any further! Alpine Exposure is THE VERY BEST way to book a Zermatt Vacation! David (the owner) was so instrumental in making our Zermatt ski vacation like the fairy tale we imagined. This was our first time skiing in Europe and we wanted a little help but got so much more. Everything from the hotel(different choices depending on your price range), train tickets, ski lift passes, taxi transfers to the intangible things like where to eat and best après scenes....and, maybe most importantly, his expertise in guiding us two days on the mountain and while in Italy! Anytime, if we had ANY questions during the week we could reach him in a moments notice and he replied so promptly and professionally! It was like having a local friend or family member there! And, he is an expert skier but we never felt left behind (I am intermediate and my husband more advanced) as he always watched out for me and had my best interest in mind, while offering my husband more challenging terrain. This was such peace of mind in a resort not familiar to us. But rest assure, if you are an expert, he can rip with you!!!
We usually ski in the western U.S. but really found out that this was not much more expensive (if at all) and will definitely return!!! We felt like locals!!! Thank you David and Alpine Exposure!!
Alpine Exposure is A MUST if you plan on visiting Zermatt!!!

We had a great experience with Alpine Exposure. We booked everything months in advance with David. He gave us great direction and handled all the details. He also help when things didn't go as planned such as flight delays, lost bags.....David new just how to handle it. We arrived close to midnight and David met us at the train as promised. He even had food waiting for us in our room...in case we had not eaten. It was very nice. He met us bright and early the next day to arrange our ski rentals and passes. He skied the day with us and gave us the lay of the land. Our 13 year old son really enjoyed him and had a blast trying to keep up with him. David constantly checked in with us and drop by to see we were enjoying our selfves or to see if we needed any thing. Our trip could not have been any better thanks to Alpine Exposure!!!

Found Alpine Exposure online and darn glad we did. Boys spring break and we decided the place to go was Europe! We flew into Zurich, train ride to Zermatt, Hotel Bristol, 2 days of on-piste guide and good eats. Boys and I averaged 60km distance a day and David showed us all of in/outs of where to board (yes we are snowboarders!). We trusted David with all the details and he delivered - from the point we landed until we took off -including tickets, restaurant recommendations (on/off mountain) and made this once-in-life trip memorable ..

Wow, off the charts trip!!! David did an amazing job creating the perfect Switzerland ski adventure for my son and I. Alpine Exposure and David Court guided us through the entire process from start to finish. From planning where to ski in the Swiss Alps to Apres ski at the end of the day David provided us with the answers. We would certainly utilize Alpine Exposure's services again.

We hired David for our second day in Zermatt and were not
disappointed. Coming from California, the mountains here are much larger and the avalanche danger is very real. David took us off-piste and was able to find us some great powder skiing even though it hadn’t snowed for almost a week. Sometimes when you hire a guide, they can be quite full of themselves; however, this is not David. I would highly recommend hiring him if you are in Zermatt. His knowledge of the area is extensive and he is able to show you great skiing and great places to eat.

This review is long overdue. In January, my Dad and I headed to Zermatt to celebrate his 60th birthday. We are avid skiers, but normally ski in Colorado and this was going to be our first European ski vacation. Skiing in the United States is so much easier than skiing in Europe not only in terms of finding accommodations, passes, and information, but also on the slopes, where each run is named and signage is generally very good. In Europe, even in a top-notch resort like Zermatt, finding good information about the resort on the internet is tough and trying to navigate the slopes is challenging as on slope signage is basically non-existent and runs are numbered instead of named.

This is where David from Alpine Exposure comes in. He runs a full-service Zermatt experience company and he will do all of the work for you, from the day you start planning until the morning you get on the train to head back to Zurich and then home. David promises that you will have a great experience when you are in Zermatt and he certainly delivered on this promise.

I reached out to David about four months before we planned to travel to Zermatt to request his help. He builds vacation packages that include everything once you get off the plane in Zurich such as train tickets to Zermatt, transfers to the hotel, hotel booking, lift tickets, and ski guiding (more on this in a bit). He has spent his winters in Zermatt for decades so he knows everything about Zermatt, and can put together a package that is customized to you. Working with David over e-mail and phone calls, we put together the dates and hotel for our trip. I was originally not happy with the hotel options David presented to me as they were not quite as upscale as I wanted and pushed him to offer more upmarket options. He then gave me several better options and we settled on a magnificent suite at the Hotel Matterhorn Focus with a view of the Matterhorn. David even went to check out the suite himself so he could send me pictures of the view from the room. This is an example of David going above and beyond. I would never have picked the Matterhorn Focus if it wasn’t for David and it was an incredible hotel. He also customized some other parts of his normal package to better accommodate our needs.

When we arrived in Zermatt, David picked us up in an electric taxi (no motorized cars are allowed in the village) to escort us to our hotel and then to dinner for the first night. Over the next five days, we skied with David as our ski guide. The concept of a ski guide might be foreign to someone who has primarily skied in the United States, as it was to us. A ski guide is someone who knows the mountain and can take you around, making sure you get to ski all the best runs and show you around the mountain. Zermatt and the connected resorts in Italy (Cervinia and Valtournenche) are huge and extremely confusing to navigate compared to contained resorts in North America. A ski guide makes sure you get to focus on enjoying your skiing instead of spending time with your gloves off, freezing as you try to read a (not very clear) trail map. David was an excellent ski guide. We pushed him each day as we wanted to maximize our time on the slopes and he made sure we got our money’s worth of skiing. The skiing in Zermatt is very good, especially in Cervinia on the Italian side. David also selected a good restaurant for lunch every day. There aren’t ski cafeterias in Zermatt like the US, so knowing where good restaurants are and how to reach them is very important.

A lot of the hotels in Zermatt are full board, meaning your breakfast and dinner are both included. We like trying different restaurants, so we intentionally picked a hotel that only included breakfast. Since most of his clients have a full board, we found that David is not used to recommending and making reservations at dinner restaurants in Zermatt. This was one area where Alpine Exposures was a bit disappointing, and we were pretty much on our own (along with our hotel) to make dinner reservations. Some restaurants require bookings months in advance, so make sure you do your research and get your hotel to help you in advance if you decide to go down the half board path like we did.

That one quibble aside, we had a great experience with David and Alpine Exposure. I think we made more requests of him than most of his clients and he came through consistently. David is a pleasure to ski with and made sure we had an outstanding vacation. If we go back to Zermatt (or another European resort) we will definitely reach out to David for assistance. If you are planning a Zermatt ski vacation, I highly recommend you give Alpine Exposure a call.

Thank you for such a thorough review Benjamin. New for 2018 will be a list of restaurants (and their ratings) which will get included in the pre-departure packet. Great advice.

Used David and Alpine Exposure to plan our week in Zermatt. Best decision. Made our stay as easy as possible. Right from the start of planning he got us all the info we needed. Once we arrived in Zermatt he met us after we got off the train and took us to our accomadations. Picked a great hotel, Bristol, all his food recommendations were fantastic, even had fondue on the mountain and got to sled back to town! David even met us up there to guide us back to town and had someone waiting for us off the cable car to lead us to the restaurant. Having someone to guide you around the mountain for a day was awesome and really helps you get the lay of the land. It's a huge ski area. Also, if you need ski lessons he will set those up as well. Basically he is there making sure you have what you need and he stays in contact with you for your trip making sure every day you are Ok. David is great making sure you have detailed information you need such as when you get to the airport where to go to get the train and where to transfer. You never feel lost. Everything was smoothe! Recommended to anyone traveling to Zermatt. Especially if it's your first time!
