Lovely way to get to the top of the mountain...

Great views as you go up and up - keep an eye out for Marmots!! Very clean and efficient with plenty of photo opportunities.

Even if the ticket is costly (50€ if you do it after 15:00, other wise you pay 90€ if in the morning) the ride is well worth, it gives you an unimaginable view of the glaciers and high peaks of Monte Rosa group (second highest in the Alps) The train takes you from the 1600m of Zermatt to 3100m. Attention,... More

You got the most fantastic view towards Matterhorn from the end station of this bahn. We walked down on well marked beautifull hiking trails.

It's always a beautiful experience. I'd recommend not to take it from zermatt (winter time) and vice versa on summer. If you are into mountain bike, you have to do it. On top the Glaciers view is flabbergasting.

I would have rated this a 5 if it weren't for the expensive train ride up the mountain. Two adult and one teenager costed about $400, just give you the heads-up! The sight is incomparable, out of this world. The tallest mountain in Europe does live up to its reputation. We got off at every stop along the track to... More

Going up to the Gornergrat is a must do in Switzerland. You could hike up from Zermatt or choose to go with the Gornergrat Bahn to the top. Taking the train you will have the famous Matterhorn constantly in eyesight. On the top there is a fantastic view on the surrounding mountains (many of them higher than 4000 meters) and... More

As part of a long hiking weekend in the Swiss Alps we took the train (SBB) to Zermatt and the Gornergrat Bahn (GGB) up to the top of the Gornergrat mountain. The cogwheel train runs frequently and stopping at several stations along the way it offers total flexibility for your hiking plans / abilities in the surrounding of stunning Alpine... More
