I walked from Solalex: firstly an hour to Anzeindaz then two hours across and down to the lake. Quite barren landscape until you get to the woods. Pleasant mountain restaurant at the lake then various options to walk down the valley or take the bus....More

The area is magical, one of my favorite places in Valais! We have seen several Bearded Vultures flying in and around the valley - these were re-introduced from extinction and seem to be doing fine. Don't forget your binoculars on this trip! You can hike...More

The access to the lake is along a narrow twisting road blasted out of a rock-face, you normally have to go to South America to find something like this. If you do not want to drive yourself (understandable!), take the post-bus, which only just squeezes...More

Even before you get there you will be driving along very narrow road with amazing scenery and beautiful hand crafted tunnels. The lake itself is really really beautiful and quiet.
