Monte Brè Tour from Lugano by funicular

16 reviews
Discover the unspoiled peak of Monte Brè, a small mountain that overlooks the bay of Lugano. With a guide, you’ll cross the lake by boat to Cassarate, then head up the mountain by gondola. As you ascend, the city views are replaced with commanding alpine vistas that stretch over the Ticino region, toward the Monte Rosa. The tour also includes a short walk through the charming village of Brè.

Starting at Gandria after the boat ride, the walk was slightly downhill until reaching town. Easy walking surface of flat stone or compacted dirt/gravel. Signage along the way explaining the history, growing, and harvesting of olives. About an hour walk, maybe more with stops.

We took the boat to Gandria and walked back along the marked trail towards Lugano. The trail is relatively easy going although there are steps in places, including to get up into Gandria from the boat, so may be challenging for the more infirm. The walk takes you along the lake
