Some churches touch you with their history, their art, their magic...this one combines all three. Be prepared to quietly spend a few minutes walking around and enjoying the art. Just beautiful. There are multi language brochures to help explain - toward the right of the back pew when you enter from the front.

Right on the side of the lake, this cathedral is astonishing with it's amazing decoration and the mysterious atmosphere. A must see if you ever visit Lugano

This simple church overlooking the lake is about a 500 years old and has a fresco done by da vincis disciple "the crucifixion". Must visit when you visit lugano. Even though there are other beautiful churches in the city.

Some fascinating improvements since the restoration was completed - thanks to the LAC being built. Two courtyardsof the ex convent with marvelous external frescoes and a sundial (meridiana) and an ancient olive tree kept live. The church is fascinating and the restoration has added to its value.

After walking down Via Nassa with its very dull and expensive shops, to enter this unpretentious building is a delight. The walls are covered in wonderful frescos including the Mount of Olives, the Dome of the Rock and poor St Sebastien and his horrible death. Good information sheets in quite a few languages. Well worth a visit.

In my opinion Lugano has not much to offer in terms of beautiful old churches, but this one is definitely a rare beauty! Tiny, simple but absolutely gorgeous in its kind.

This unpretentious looking small church on the lake front to the west of the town centre is well worth visiting. It was built in the 15th. century as part of a Franciscan Convent and is covered inside with Renaisance style frescoes which have amazing detail and colour, many reputedly done by Bernardino Luini, a pupil of Leonardo da Vinci.
