Easy access to one of the panoramic highlights of Lugano via cablecar. Not an easy place for people with handicap, as you have to climb stares to get to the look out. For those people who can walk further, I recommend walking to the old village of Carona or even further until Morcote. A walk with views, through the forest.

The train up there was very near my hotel. Impressive trip up. Up there you have to walk a little bit but it is worth it. The views are fantastic. I was lucky, there were not too mant people up there so could in quiet sit on a bench and have a little me time. I also had lunch at... More

We bought tickets to the Funicular one way up and planned to hike down to Marcote to take the boat back to Lugano, but delayed our trip to the next day when we were informed by the Funicular staff that we wouldn't be able to do the 3 & 1/2 hr hike down that afternoon! Boy were they correct! But... More

There's a great view of Lake Lugano and Monte Bre from this funicular. Went all the way to the top and had an Aperol Spritz (my favourite Italian cocktail, happily available in Switzerland) at the cute little cafe up top. Highly recommend!

Here you will get the best view of Lake Lugano and the surrounding area. One of the must do when in this area. Just beautiful and the # 1 thing to do when visiting.

So glad we did this--we were only in Lugano overnight and my plane was at 2pm the next day, but I was inspired by all the great reviews here and we organized ourselves to go first thing in the morning. We were staying in Lugano not far from the main station. We put our luggage in a locker as not... More

The view from the top of the church was nice. There were many good pano views to take and a great view of the city. Worth a trip although the price can be steep. With a Swiss pass it's $15 per person round trip. There are two cogwheels as it switched half way but the trip only takes about 15... More

Took the funicular to the top and got some excellent pictures of the lake area below. Climbed to the top of the tower which was a little hair raising when the stairs moved from the internal walls of the tower to the external wall. but it was fun.

Choose a clear day and take a camera! You can reach this fabulous viewpoint in one of two ways: on foot or by funicular. The free method: the hike up would probably take 2-3 hours depending on fitness. Coming down is a lot easier! The more expensive way: the funicular railway starts in Paradiso and is 24CHF return. The ride... More
