    Very picturesque
Compared to some of the other city lakes in Switzerland, Lake St Moritz is relatively small. However, it is in a beautiful setting and is itself, very picturesque. There is a flat path around the entire lake, for walking or cycling, as well as plenty of benches for sitting and relaxing and watching the boating activity. We saw the lake during a stormy evening and a sunny day, offering contrasting views. Naturally, the lake is at the bottom of the town, but there are covered escalators between the station and the town to make the walk down to (and up from) the lake much easier.

Beautiful lake, reached by an amazing train journey from Chur
Beautiful lake, reachable by a very scenic train ride from Chur. We were unable to get seat reservations on the popular Bernina Express, but Tourist Information told us that regular trains offer just as good views. So we travelled from Zurich to Chur (by train) then another train to St Moritz. Total travel time from Zurich to St Moritz was about 4 hours. This journey was on the Bernina Express train line but in a regular train, but with just as good views (just not in a panoramic carriage which you have to pay seat reservation charges for). The Chur to St Moritz train was very full, and we found ourselves in a carriage with seats facing in to the centre of the carriage and wide viewing windows. It was probably the best carriage to take photos from. The seats didn't look very comfortable but actually they were fine, and in any case you had to spend part of the journey standing up to admire all the passing scenery and take photos! At St Moritz we walked down to the Lake and had lunch overlooking the lake and surrounding mountains. This was home to the winter Olympics (twice!) . Then we did the return journey to Zurich. So a long day, but much of it spent on a very scenic train journey.

Let's go and have some ice skating!
I visited the Lake in St. Moritz during the event The Ice. The idea of putting precious supercars and classics on the ice is crazy, really. But it is a place to visit in the winter time. Ice skating on the lake is unforgettable!

    A winter wonderland
We visited in Jan 24 after they had a decent amount of snow and the whole place looked like a winter wonderland. The lake has a nice path that appeared to go around the whole lake, but we chose to walk on the frozen lake itself. Simply gorgeous!!

    Stunning scenery
Stopped over for lunch in St Moritz for a few hours after boarding the Bernina Express from Tirano. Arrived on time and with luggage for an onward journey to Chur, the luggage lockers for 8CHR on platform 1 were very welcome. Lovely warm café serving snacks opposite station, it has an inside and outside terrace with view over lake, friendly staff. Plan ahead if eating, especially if you are on a carriage at back of train, you could be behind other passengers getting into centre which isnt far to walk. Buses and taxis also available, I managed to take in the poster collection on the way back to the station. Take the escalator to the viewing gallery, posters provide brief history of events from many years ago. For photo opportunity, it was great spot also to take a snap at the lake. Toilets available also. There is a walk around the lake, check it out if you have time, I didnt but I've heard it really is along a beautiful route, definitely visit, you wont be disappointed.

    Beautiful Swiss Lake
Beautiful views and walks along this mountain lake. Definitely visit it in summer as we were twice in St.Moritz and it's way more impressive in summer to see this lake! Although St.Mortiz can be a lot of fun in winter!

    Lake St. Moritz
The lake is beautiful and the town of St. Moritz is very nice too. For some reason I thought of it as a railroad hub (which it is) but it happened to be a nice place to spend a couple of hours (or even days). The settings and scenery are magnificent.

We were lucky to stroll around this lake and see a 2 private sailboats cruising by. The view, with the lake at the foreground, then the greenery from the trees to the snow-capped mountains.....it's like a postcard. So serene, peaceful and just pleasant. Would love to see it during the winter when they have their polo matches.

Easy walk around the lake and stopped off for a hot chocolate on the way. It is easy walking and well sign posted and probably the best thing to do in St Moritz in the winter as the shops are expensive as expected. Close to the train station and take your time and just marvel at the views.

The walk round the lake takes about 60-90 minutes or even longer if you stop for coffee. It’s mostly flat. It gives views of the mountains, woods and town. Very quiet and has good paths.

We only spent one day in St Moritz and the whole day was overcast and intermittently intermittent with drizzle and rain. Even so, we still enjoyed the atmosphere in St Moritz with its beautiful lake. We walked along the lake from the hotel to town and back. As well as exploring the lake around the hotel in the morning.

We walked right round the lake from St Moritz south to St Moritz train station and then into the centre. The walk was lovely with fabulous views! Part of the path was quite sludgy and muddy due to snow however it was still very walkable in ankle boots! We took quite a long time to walk it (probably 90 minutes) as my parents are 70 and walk slowly but it was very pleasant. We found that St Moritz is a bit of a ghost town in April as so many places are closed including most of the cable cars so this was one of the main attractions!

St Moritz is certainly an evocative and elegant place, which owes much of the tourists it manages to attract to its fame and notoriety.
The upper part, with the centre, is uphill for those coming from the station (when the escalators are closed or under maintenance!!!)
Luxury shops, banks and boutiques reign supreme, but I recommend a visit to the surroundings of Saint Moritz for its natural beauty.
A trip to the Hanselmann chocolate shop can relieve you of cold and snowy days!
