After a full day and an overnight snowing we were the first ones on the slopes! I haven’t experienced fresh powder for over 15 years! Pure floating - awesomeness!

Yes- that’s how it’s pronounced. A good site- worthwhile to visit to see the glacier. Take the cable car- great ride and great view. It’s cold there. The views are fantastic. There are hiking trails- not easy: I didn’t try because I don’t hike at or above 3000 meters (see my review of Piz Nair). I started but decided against it. Please see my photos of the site and of the cable car journey, and especially including the Buc-pole hiking sticks embedded in the snow.

Not easy to get to. We took the Bernini Express train from Tirano. Then the cable car up here to 10,000 feet. Hotel and restaurant at the top. Great viewing areas to take in the gorgeous scenery. We got lucky in mid-October with relatively mild temperatures and lots of sunshine. Unforgetable.

We took the Diavolezza gondola up and at the top it was truly breathtaking. My favorite in that area!!! Mindbogglingly beautiful and so close to glacier you felt you could touch it. There are tours to actually walk on glacier and around area but time did not permit, but just seng it so close was well worth it. The restaurant at the top was beautiful!! As a bonus this gondola ride was included in a special card we received by out hotel. But I think the cost was around 40 - 50 Swiss francs return.

Of course we were very lucky and we could see the glacier and mountain. The lift was well done and smooth. The outside viewing and walking area was nice. And of course the weather was unseasonably warm.
