About
Brambruesch in summertime: The cable car whisks you from the centre of Chur directly up to the high plateau of Brambruesch, where you are greeted by glorious Alpine summer meadows, beautiful flora and awesome panoramic views. In summer, you can enjoy wonderful hikes, cosy restaurants and thrilling bikeboard downhill runs, as well as the Alpine Bike Park with its downhill trails for mountain bikers. Also ideal for group excursions! Brambruesch in wintertime: From the city centre directly to a winter sports area - in Switzerland, that is only possible in Chur. With the aerial cableway, ski lift and chairlift you reach 2'200m above sea level and 20km of natural snow pistes and cosy mountain restaurants, complete with sun terraces, for bon vivants. In addition, there is a 6 km-long toboggan run, a winter hiking circuit trail and perfect terrain for snowshoe trekking. Equipment and courses available at the AIS Sports School.

Chur-Brambruesch Cableways: We used our Chur Guest Card for a free round trip (for pedestrians). The cable car and gondola carry you from the center of Chur directly up to the high plateau of Brambrüesch mountain. Beware of the bikers with bicycles during the summer months going up to ride down the Alpine bike park with 5 downhill/freeride trails. In fact, there were so many bikers with bikes on the first cable car we boarded that we got off and waited for another cable car. As we were riding up the mountain, we watched the bikers flying down those trails and could not imagine ever doing this!

I really enjoyed the ride up the mountain, and then exploring the small town at the top. There is much to do!

Enjoy the nature! Hop-on the Chur Bergbahnen and enter the Brambruesch point. Here you can use the many trails for mountainbikes - one of them going steep downhill. You call also go for a walk in the mountains or have a cup of coffee in one of the many restaurants. There are also opportunies for training your dog in the new dog play area.

Chur is amazing given the fact it is the oldest (5000 years) settlement in Switzerland. The view high above, right from downtown Chur is mandatory to view from above. There were a few restaurants open in early October for us to visit, but check ahead since some close for a month at this time. Incredible walking paths and photo taking here as well. If you are a very very experienced mountain/trail biker, there are established trails all the way down the mountain during the no-snow time of year. Fantastic memorable experience!

Great two-part ride, firstly near-vertical in a large group gondola and then secondly in small cars to the top. Not cheap but half-price with a Swiss Rail Pass. Not a terrific amount to do at the top but the ride, views and chance to walk around in the snow up top are great.

We got the cable car up to Brambruesch late morning from Chur and if staying at a local hotel, may be entitled to 25% off with voucher- no harm asking from the hotel. The journey up is in 2 parts with changeover in the middle; covering probably 20 mins in total. Once at the top, you can either walk or catch the local “bus” to where the ski slopes are and the ski school. For first timers, we hired skis for CHF35 each and no time limit given, although 3 hours later, all exhausted- we returned our skis. Fun and a few thrills & spills but don’t think I’ll ever be a Molly Bloom. Was the highlight of our visit to Chur, given the season. Didn’t try out the restaurants although were told that the views were quite spectacular. Perhaps next time!

We stopped in Chur for the night at the end of our Bernina Express trip. While walking around the Old City we saw the cable car and decided to explore. What fun! At the top of the route you can walk a few minutes to a darling little restaurant that has wine, beer and a lunch made by the owners. It's the only there so you can't miss it. Spectacular view. The day we were there the couple who were the owners were cooking sausages on an outside grill and adding salads to your lunch plate from their kitchen table.

It's is jaw-dropping to see the locals hiking and riding bikes from the top back down to Chur. . .

Took this cable car up the mountain. Had a stroll around and walked halfway back down. Very scenic, could have spent longer at the top but last chair lift isn't very late.
