Many short easy walks from here and all will give you amazing views. Meadow wild flowers change through June to August. You can relay in the sun with traditional Swiss Wurst in a bread roll.

Amazing plateau that serves trains going up and down from Jungfraujoch and also connects Lauterbrunnen to Grindlewald. It looks beautiful in spring and is great in winter when the skiing paths open up with the snow. Highly recommend visiting and this can be accessed for free using regional passes and swiss travel passes.

Took the train from Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg stopped for some lunch then walked down the toboggan path to Allmend. This path is shared with skiers and toboggans to start with then just toboggans. It is quite steep in places and some form of snow grips on your shoes and walking/ski poles wld be a useful thing to have. I had none and slipped a couple of times. Also be careful of toboggans hurtling past v fast in places. It is approx 2.5 miles from Kleine Scheidegg to the station at Allmend and took a little under an hour to walk.

Never found anywhere that does Rosti better than the restaurant at the train station at Kleine Scheidegg. The portions are huge, you only need one between two of you. all the food here is fantastic and you get wonderful views of the Eiger. You can then hop onto the train up to the Jungfrau joch. Service is also friendly and fast which if you’re switching trains it’s really useful!

We took the train from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen, then took a gondola up the mountain to hike to Klein Scheidegg and Eigergletscher. From there we took the gondola down. It was picturesque and stunning. The trail was easy and there were restaurants and shops in Klein Scheidegg.

We were delighted by the views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. There are plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops and short walks to keep it interesting. Don’t bother with the overpriced rubbish trip up to Jungfraujoc top of Europe, total waste of time and money.

A nice walk up from Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg was completely spoilt by the continuous thunderous roar of processions of sightseeing helicopters coming up the valley.

It's totally ridiculous. This is a Unesco World Heritage site so why are these helicopters allowed in such numbers? They were passing us at two minute intervals all day. Heaven knows how much fuel they used or what their carbon footprint is.

Please return this beautiful place to the peaceful idyll it used to be.

Just came back from Switzerland last week (July 13 to July 20). We were very lucky as the weather was very good when we at Jungfraujoch. Absolutely clear blue sky. Amazing view.
Like to share my experiences. By the way, we were staying at Wengen
We wanted to do both Jungfrau and hiking between Kleine Scheidegg/Mannlichen on the same day. So, we followed one of the advise in this forum, ie, go up to Jungrau first thing in the morning and then come down to KS later and hike from KS to Mannlichen and then take a cable car from Mannlichen to Wengen.

a) last cable car from Mannlichen to Wengen is 5.30pm (certain months is 5pm). So, you must leave the peak or take the 3pm train down to KS. Walk from KS to Mannlichen is about 1 to 2 hrs depending on how fast you walk and how often you stop. So, its going to be real rush and hence you will not enjoy the hike.

b) hiking from KS to Mannlichen - more uphill than downhill and your back is facing the mountans most of the time. Hence a great disadvantage. You would want to have the mountain in full view in front of you.
My suggestion: If possible, break up the two itineraries into two days if possible. Spend more time in the peak and hike from Mannlichen to KS instead.

if you prefer to hike from Mannlichen to KS in the morning and then take the train from KS up to the peak later,
a) do not buy the train ticket first until you are at KS and confirm if weather is good.
b) hope you don't tire out from the hike. The peak is 11,300+ and air is a bit thin.

We took the cable car from Wengen to Mannlichen. We actually paid a few dollars more and rode on the top of the cable car. Very cool!! From there we first hung a left and did the Royal walk. Not sure I would so that again, was just an uphill walk with a moderately better view than when you first get off the cable car. After that, we went back towards the cable car and went in the other direction towards Kleine Scheidegg. It was truly a wonderful hike. Such a spectacular view of the mountains while you were walking and you could also see a village in the distance in the valley. Hike was a good couple hours, but not difficult at all. Arrived in Kleine Sheidegg and took the train back to Wengen to complete the round trip. Highly recommended hike that's not overly difficult.

I was in the Oberland after a long time, I spent my day with my family, we did sledging for the first time, we have had a lot of fun and laughs. We did 2 runs, 1 down to Wengen and 1 back to Grindelwald Grind, where we left the car. The weather was beautiful and on the different skiing places you can eat a drink something and most important, being delighted from the view on the alps. I really recommend this place (you can even go to Jungfraujoch).
