I walked this uphill and back again, although most hikers start at kleine Scheidegg to walk downhill, judging from the traffic. A waterfall with water-scalloped rocks is a nice contrast. Lots of pretty alpine flowers and vegetation, although no trees for shade, some young firs...More

Great walk and fab views. Best to do it on a day when there is less cloud so views of the eiger will be good. Not too difficult at all.

It took our family with two children aged 9 & 11 about 3.5 hrs to walk from Kleine Scheidegg down to Alpemgen. It's well worth the walk and going downhill suited us; though just as many people crossed the other way. Near the start at...More

This is a great trip offering perfect views of the valley and the Eiger wall. Track can be closed in case of snow fileds.

The weather was anything but cooperative but the trip was special. There were lots of alpine flowers. The tremendous outflow from the glaciers was sad, see it while they are still there.

I've experienced this world-class hike in June and the end of September, both times hiking with loved ones. June brought lovely flowers and cows, their bells jangling, wandering about the rocky meadows. If you start the path at Kleine Scheidigg, and head downward, you'll have...More

We hiked the Eiger Trail in October 2017. We took the train to the top of the trailhead and made our way down to Alpiglen, where we took the train into Grindelwald. The hike took about three hours. We could have gone faster but the...More

I ran 37km of the E51 of the Eiger Ultra trail. The mountains are beautifulen the single tracks are lovely. I definitely come back for the 101k (when I'm stonger :) )

You would undoubtedly need ice axe and crampons and be experienced in alpine winter navigation and avalanche safety.
