Despite an aversion to cable cars we have been up to First twice in the summer season, and will do it again. The views on the way up and down from your small rather bouncy gondola (!) are fantastic but from the summit are breathtaking. Having a drink on the outside terrace of the restaurant to take in the vista... More

The views up there exceed what you're expecting based on the pictures. Just go. Had some fighter planes doing low passes through the alps when we were there, not sure if that is a typical training or a rare occurrence.

I thought it was a little pricy but its a pretty long way up and takes a good 30 minutes in the Cable Car. Unfortunately we were tight on time and didn't get the chance to meander down as it closes at 5pm, which is a shame as it was a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and daylight. it... More

Really enjoyed the cable car ride . Views amazing . Cafe at the top good plus the Tissot platform fantastic. Great idea with the things you can do and enjoyed walking down half way then catching the cable .

With the SBB travel pass, we’ve got 50% discount for the cable car to First where it takes around 30-minutes ride from Grindelwald. We did enjoy the spectacular scenery so much, worth to go.

I had much fun during First mountain walk and trotti bike even if the weather was rainy. If you visit here, I recommend trying the trotti bike(scooter).

We have been up to first on the gondola in the summer and winter, both times of year are fantastic. There great hikes in the summer over plateau's and around mountain lakes, and up to higher peaks. In winter there is skiing, sledding and obviously winter hikes. There is a restaurant and bar at the top and occasional organised events.... More

Our tour to Jungfraujoch and Bernese Oberland was cancelled due to a storm at the top of the mountain. Our alternate was the aerial cable car ride to First from Grindlewald. The sound of bells from the cattle and sheep below were unique. After taking some photos of the panorama on the sky walk, we enjoyed lunch at the restaurant.... More

We visited Grindelwald and took the cable car to First. The walk to the lake from the top of the cablecar took about 45 minutes and was on a mainly good surface. There were a few inclines but just as many 'downs' as 'ups' and manageable to the person of average fitness. We descended via cable car part way. We... More
