One of the most spectacular ways to cross the Alps: the Bernina Express...

One of the most spectacular ways to cross the Alps: the Bernina Express from Chur/Davos to Tirano (via St. Moritz) links up regions with different languages and cultures. This is not a rack railway and the train winds its way gently through splendid scenery. One of the highlights is the panoramic journey through the UNESCO World Heritage RhB.

On the highest railway across the Alps, the Bernina Express climbs up to the glistening glaciers before descending to the palms of Italy far below. This rail link between Northern and Southern Europe builds bridges between regions with different languages and cultures.

Our Party travelled down to St Moritz for the first White Turf horse racing event and returned via this marvellous train late in the day as the sun was setting on a beautiful sunny day, we were fortunate enough to see the alps in all their late afternoon glory, a trip that will stay with me forever

This is a great one day activity. We took the train from Milan to Tirano very early, like 6 am, then hopped on the Bernina. Got back to Milan around 7 pm. We actually got the tickets way in advance and the website only had 1st class. So we got 1st class kind of grudgingly, but it was worth it!... More

Our tour guide, Sylvia was wonderful. The scenery was beautiful. Take the guides recommendations to eat light at the first stop and have lunch at their restaurant pick and have the local cuisine. We would have liked to have had more time to explore St. Moritz. It was a very fun day!

We traveled on the Bernina express in Sep 2008. This was the last leg of our Switzerland trip. We had a swiss rail pass and that helped to keep the cost to a low. All we had to pay for Bernina was the seat reservation price. We travelled to and fro from St.Moritz to Poschiavo (as we had just Swiss... More

Traveling through Bernina Express from Tirano to St. Moritz was the most fascinating experience that we had in many years. The scenery is simply out of this world, most beautiful and breathtaking. The train is very comfortable and designed for a better view all around the place. However, when I compared the price difference between Bernina Express with the normal... More

What an experience! Should be done once and would be repeated. The first class has Panoramic windows and you feel traveling in glass tunnel. Stopping at Alp Grüm and getting of is amazing. Adding Glazier express down to Chur is recommended.

We took a bus from Milan to Tirano and caught the Bernina Express to St Moritz. This was an absolutely stunning journey through some of the most amazing scenery we have ever seen. It was one of those experiences in life that we will never forget and one that I would recommend to anyone. The day we went was reasonably... More

Just spent 4 hours from Turino in Italy to Chur in the Swiss mountains aboard the Bernina Express. Switzerland's little red train. Crossing over fathomless gorges across sky high viaducts and climbing to the top of the snow capped alps on a clear bright day in January. Lovely alpine villages and snow, snow, snow. Only issue was the very expensive... More
