We travelled from Milan to Tirano stopping in Tirano for lunch before boarding the Bernina Express to Pontresina. The scenery was amazing, I highly recommend this superb train trip.

This was a beautiful train ride through the Alps. Gorgeous views! Plenty of photo opportunities! The town on the Italian border where we got on the train, Tirano, is charming! Plan to spend some time just wandering the town.

Yes that's possible. There's a 1500 something back to St Moritz from Tirano. The Chur to Tirano leaves early around 8 I think. I did this trip but got on at Tiefencastel at 0915 which is a few stops on from Chur.
