The Rhine Falls, the biggest waterfall in Europe, offer the visitors a spectacular sight! 17,000 years ago this impressive wonder of nature was formed and is now the main attraction for countless visitors from all over the world. Over a width of 150 metres and a height of 23 metres, an average of 700,000 litres of water cascade over the rocks every second. A boat ride to the famous rock in the middle of the Falls and the short walk to the top, is an unforgettable experience for every visitor.

Just stopped for an hour and walked along the falls and took some photos. Only had to pay for parking which was a bonus. We visited after a couple of days of heavy rain (great holiday hey!) but that made the water look pretty fierce. Visited on a grey wet day but enjoyed the visit despite the weather.

Visit the Waterfall on foot (many footpaths) or via a little boat (buy tickets - many variations of the tour are available, from short and less expensive to long and more expensive). Playground for smaller children right by the falls. Wanderweg along the Rhine for those looking to take a longer walk - you can do a loop that's probably... More

If in the area, it's a must see. Spectacular falls. On a summers day, like today, it was stunning. Boat rides around the base. Lots of people milling around. Lovely atmosphere.

We visited the falls from the castle side, meaning we paid for a ticket costing approx 5 CHF each which entitled us to walk down to various viewpoints by the side of the falls. Parking at this side was free We were able to get very "up close and personal" with the falls, and the kids in particular loved getting... More

Smaller scale of Niagara fall is best description I can give. Amount and force of water are amazing and scary! I think it says 20,000 litter of water per second passing by. It is worth your trip and easy to get to from Zurich Airport. Luggage can be left in lockers at either airport or Winterthur train station for 9... More

First, let's clarify one point - visiting the Rhine waterfalls is substantially free of charge. Possibly you'll pay for parking, of course, and for coffee or whatever you consume; if you come by public transportation, expect a ticket too :) But the Rheinfall can be visited almost completely for free. Exceptions- a small ticket is required to go under the... More

Really an incredible site but my goodness after spending 150 Dollars or Swiss Francs for the "tour" you'd think access to the river boat would be included. Not the case, another 10 for adults and 5 for children. Also the "tour" felt a bit rushed. If I could do it again and if you are a group of 4, I'd... More

We had a free day while in Zurich- so we took the train to this magnificent water fall! It really was spectacular - we walked around the area, crossing the bridge and got some great pictures! Then took the train to Schaffhausen and then back to Zurich! It took a few hours total- the express train back was about 35... More

There are two side to the Rhine riverfalls, and the best looking is free of parking but 5 CHF entry, the other side is 5 CHF for parking and no entry fee. Schloss Laufen is the most beautifull site, most impressive and powerfull.
