Beautiful library with amazingly old books. Just to be there, standing in front of something written more than a thousand years ago is humbling. The baroque decoration is hugely impressive. No photos allowed, even without flash.

The library is thought provoking and memorable to visit. Recommend you get an audio guide, so you gain understanding of the artifacts you are seeing. The library is one large room filled with rare books and exhibits, and the decorations in the room and walls...More

Unquestionably a beautiful library which has left us in awe. However, it's only one room. Though one which is definity worth a visit which is going to leave an impression.

Very rich historically, the manuscripts are so ancient they are too precious. You are also required to wear a special shoe to slip on your shoes. Also, taking photos is prohibited to perhaps because of the sensitivity of the manuscripts

Itinerary Advice: 8/9 days to get from Milan to Grenoble (1 Replies)
Hi! I am planning a 2-month trip to Europe this autumn. I am 34 year old solo male traveler from USA. I love hiking (day hikes, including strenuous hikes), landscape photography (especially sunrise/sunset and panoramic views), and animals. My budget is probably about 100-150 euro per day including accommodation, transportation, and meals. I enjoy action-packed days especially when sightseeing. I am looking for some itinerary suggestions for traveling through Switzerland (and some nearby...More
