I wanted to see snow anyway. then they have indicated the Mt. Rigi which is near Zurich (our base city in Switzerland). We bought the ticket round trip, leaving from Zurich by train, arriving at Arth-Godal and returning by boat to Lucerne (worth the visit) and then by train to Zurich. The mountain was covered with snow, the ride is... More

I am sure this is a spectacular excursion is good weather but ..... Well what can you do, the weather is not good, but you decide to go anyway. We checked the webcams before leaving Lucerne and it was a bit overcast but looked okay. By the time we arrived at Weggis to catch a gondola, it was raining. On... More

We went on a very cloudy day in December and unfortunately missed out on taking in the full beautiful of the views. But when the clouds did part a little it was truly stunning. The trip up was also enjoyable and the food at the top was nice albeit a little expensive but nothing more in comparison to other Swiss... More

We visited Mt Rigi from Lucerne and all the travel was free using our Swiss Pass. We caught the ferry from Lucerne to Vitznau. This was a really nice ferry with great views along the lake. From Vitznau we caught the cog train to Mt Rigi. This was a really fun ride, with great views of the lake and mountains.... More

Mt.Rigi is at lesser altitude and comparitively has less snow and less colder compared to Mt.titlis and others... And if you have a Swiss pass the ride to Mt.Rigi is free for you... Before visiting others mountains in swiss you can start up with Mt.Rigi... The view is really damn good... The last train from the mountain back to the... More

We used our Swiss Rail Pass for a free ferry ride to Vitznau from where we caught the cogwheel train up the steep mountain side, enjoyed the views, and then caught the cable car down for another vantage point. A must do day trip while in Lucerne.

We took a tour across Lake Lucern and then a gondola up Mt. Rigi where we had dinner. Going back down the mountain we took the cog-wheel train. The entire tour was unbelievably beautiful.

We went by ferry from Lucerne to Vitznau, and that is itself a pleasant thing to do. Train ride up to the top - stunning views. There are many paths and routes for walking back down, either to catch the train part way down or to go back down to the ferry. All offer easy, sometimes steep walks, places to... More

We can see this mountain from our apartment so decided to pay it a visit. We arrived by main line train at the foot of the mountain and walked a short distance to the separate mountain railway. The mountain train meanders up the side of the mountain before reaching the final station just below the summit which as at c.1,800... More
