My wife and I went to the top of Mount Pilatus after a boat ride across Lake Lucerne. After the one hour boat ride we got on the steepest cog way train in the world which goes up to the top of Mount Pilatus. The...More

My friends suggested Mt Pilatus for an adventure out on my own (they had to work one of the days of my visit). It was a quick bus trip from the main train station in Lucerne, then maybe a 10 minute walk up past the...More

Be sure to take the ferry to the cog railway or cable car. We stopped halfway up and hike the rest of the way and we were so glad we did. The views were incredible. We passed cows, wildflower, saw great views. If you are...More

A friend recommended I check out MT. Pilatus. Since I had the Swiss Pass, my roundtrip cable car trip was free. Midway there is a lovely cafe with food and nice drinks to enjoy. By chance there was some local entertainers playing native music. The...More

We took the cable car up and the cog railway (steepest in the world) down and then road the boat on Lake Lucern back to Lucerne. Great views. A quartet played their alphorns together for a free concert. We hiked up the various overlook paths...More

We were there before the summer high season which probably made the experience more pleasant. It's super easy to take the bus from Luzern, walk to the cable car and head up the mountain. Definitely do this if you have a Swiss train pass since...More

Take the Golden round trip. It's a great experience. You can see how the Swiss treat their holiday destinations. Amazing infrastructure. Besides the mountain peak is lovely and not as crowded as Mount Titlis

Wonderful experience. We left from Kriens using the cable car to go up to Mt Pilatus and came down on the cogwheel train. There are 3 levels going up and the guides at each stop point will let you know when to come off/when to...More

My husband and I will be in Lucerne for 2 days in June. We really want to go to Mount Pilatus but not sure the best way. We have read all reviews and now it it really confusing! Should we take a private tour or do on our own? Should we take a boat rode at the end? What is the best way to get there and avoid some crowds? Thank you!! Where should we get tickets? We are 64 and 69 years old and are in good health.

We did the full trip today - this was the first day of the season where the cogwheel train is working. It was amazing. We bought our tickets at the rail office in the train station (level 3) as they have discounts. We also... More

Definitely do the Mt. Pilatus tour either by cable car or cog wheel train or both! Not to be missed. Afterwards, you may still have time to explore some of old town Lucerne by the river. Enjoy!
