Went here on the recommendation of many friends, but found it very average. A lot of exhibits showing signs of age, although a lot of the signs are available in 4 languages including English, quite a few don't. The railway section interesting for gothard tunnel but not a lot else. The car section does not have everything labelled correctly (a Ferrari is labelled as an Austin) the red bull formula 1 racing cars had enough dust on them for people to write messages in it. The boat section is not bad and the aerospace part is probably the most interesting. There are a lot of interactive exhibits, but they are not well managed there is little sense of queuing and almost no social distancing, there is no equipment to wipe down after they have been used. In fact in ventral there is no opportunity to socially distance. The one did stand inside has enormous queues and charged almost as much for your lunch as to get in! Kids have lots of options to run wild with building, driving etc, which is great except for the kids with inattentive parents who endenger others and themselves, there appears to be little or no museum supervision of this. Unless you are getting a good discount would not recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to give us a feedback! The entire car-theatre (the big wall full of road vehicles) is currently in the process of being redone completely with new vehicles and story-themes for the show. The exchange of vehicles is quite a long process, hence the false (old) labels on some of the exchanged vehicles (updated by now) and the increased dust due to construction work involved, that can only be done in daytime. We are sorry this had a negative effect on your visit. All our attractions are in German, French, Italian and English... so if you didn't find English at some attractions we would be greatful if you let us know which ones, so we can improve the placement or visibility of the translations.

We've just returned from this wonderful museum with children (6 & 4 and 1) who have just had a "brilliant excellent day" to quote our two oldest. I have to say my wife and I also had a pretty amazing day too! To quote my wife during the day "there's just fun stuff around every corner"!

While we definitely benefited from visiting during a quiet day, we'll happily return again as the place is pretty big. Everything from submarines to space was covered, and the hands-on experiences were great. It has clearly been designed with kids in mind, with loads of things for them to interact with - including a building site with machinery for them to mess around and get dirty with. The kids couldn't decide whether they liked the building site, helicopter air blast, space station rotator or something else the best - which I think pretty much sums it up.

I recommend taking the bus or for extra fun, the boat from the main pier across from the train station. There are loads of things to look at and hands on activities for children. A good cafe/cafeteria with tasty food.

Lucerne is spectacularly beautiful. Nestled by the “mini” Alps along the shores of a huge, glacial lake, it offers much. Practical points-friendly folks who speak english. So clean and neat and while Swiss food isn’t the reason to visit: there are lots of restaurants and shops that you can walk to or use the public transit system.

Huge museum with lots of interactive things for kids. This place covers cars, trains, planes, space, gondolas, boats, and more! Models big and small. It would take days to read everything. Pricey admissions, though.

The Swiss Transport Museum is a great place to spend a day with or without kids! Your kids will definitely love the history of trains, planes & automobiles (boats too!) & the place is as entertaining for older people! There's a good deal of interactivity to keep you engaged.

The place also has a movie theater (apparently the largest screen in Switzerland!) showing movies as well as documentaries.

There's a restaurant on the premises, but we didn't stop there as there was just too much to see in the museum! The shop in the lobby is a great place to pick up souvenirs!

Make sure you plan your day and go here! You can spend as much as a full day in this place!

Looks into ‘Logistics’ in Switzerland. A good small collection of Swiss aviation aircraft, some you can enter. A section on space, trains and cars.

COVID compliant. Food is cafeteria style, but this could be due to restaurants being closed.

What a Swiss chocolate experience has to do with transportation is beyond me other than pure commercialism.
Lots of stuff for kids to do.

Expect to pay Swiss prices.

The Lucerne Museum of Tansportation was a very interesting and enjoyable afternoon activity. At first I was wondering how interesting it might be, but even for an active Mom and older daughter (age 19), we found lots to do and saw lots of fun activities for younger kids, age 5 or 6 up through teenagers. Parents will enjoy it, too! Don't tell your kids it's a museum! It's way more fun!

In addition to displays of railroad cars, race cars, airplanes, etc, there were LOTS of interactive displays, such as a reaction time testing machine; a row of rowing machines attached to a video screen so you could "race" others; the "scooter sharing" zone where kids could ride scooters through parts (not all) of the museum; coin operated remote controlled boats and trucks; and a large "kid work zone" for kids to operate cranes, fill trucks, roll them around and dump out the load, operate various construction equipment, etc. That's just a sampling!

There were many more interactive computer programs and other activities. And, unlike many museums with hand-on activities- all of the activities that we tried were operational! There is also a snack bar and an IMAX theater. The only things that we saw that cost extra above the admission fee were the coin operated boats/trucks, and the IMAX. So if you're on a budget, the kids can do a lot of stuff without extra cost.

The museum was not far from the main part of old town Lucerne (we had rented bikes at the train station). But it would probably have been only a 15 minute walk from the bridge in Lucerne.

The displays were in German, French and Italian, not English. It didn't matter too much, since most displays were very visual and easily understood anyway.

This is a must-do on a rainy day, and if it doesn't rain - go anyway!
