Went twice and the large pieces were not on display, until finally the large pics were out on display and being played with- on a Monday afternoon. A nice spot to sit in the shade and watch the world go by and the games unfold....More

These chessboards are fun to play and also give you a great chance to mingle with the locals (although not everyone spoke English).

Beautiful park area. Watched people playing chess on giant grids with huge chess pieces under their brollies! And people think the Brits are crazy???? Very amusing to watch.

Amazing to watch the players all wrapped up against the cold, deep in concentration. The location beside the Wall adds to the sense of wonder.

If you are in Bastion Park take a look and yes, I recommend that you take a walk in the park, but this is not an attraction.

This giant chess board was just one of the many interesting sights during our tour through Bastions Park, and on this day, there was a good sized crowd watching as players matched strategy with the huge chess pieces.

If you're at all a player of chess, this is a fun little stop to make (right by the Reformation wall). Old men in Geneva love to gather on a weekend afternoon and challenge one another to these giant-piece games of chess. The people-watching alone...More
