After visiting the Thun Castle above, descend down to this compact cute old town.
Winding streets and walk around the river will reward you with great sites of this provincial town. Plenty of outside cafes to have a break and enjoy the beauty.

This bridge is old, and to see it and walk through and over it, is quite wonderful. The water here, is so clear. You can see the fish without any problems. They usually hang out under the open part of the walkway. What a great bridge.

Great day trip, especially when the market is going on. Walk around town, over a few bridges and get lost. Tons of eateries and pubs along the river. Thun is especially festive in the summer with the various festivals. There is a fun park next to the river for kids to play in. The castle, one of my favorites. So much history and great views from the top. It's worth exploring.

Switzerland is full of little towns with charming old centers. One of the most attractive is definitely found in the city of Thun in the canton of Bern and a gateway to the touristy Bernese Oberland. It lies on the river Aare about 1,5km away from the western and lower end of the lake of Thun.
Inhabited since prehistoric times, the town developed under the noble families of Zähringen and then of the Kyburg until it was bought by the city of Berne. From these days dates Thun's landmark, the impressive castle with its four round turrets. It lies on the Schlossberg together with the now 'reformierte' Stadtkirche, to which there are covered walkways with steps leading up to.
Below the Schlossberg lies the Altstadt proper with the well known Obere Hauptgasse and its elevated sidewalks and the cobblestoned Rathausplatz with the city hall. While traffic is allowed through the Obere Hauptgasse, the Rathausplatz remains free of traffic. This is also valid for the Bälliz, the main shopping street, located on the 'Inseli', the little island between the Innere Aare (to the north) and the Äussere Aare to the south.
A popular attraction of old Thun are the two covered wooden bridges, the Mühlebrücke over the Innere Aare and the Scherzligschleuse over the Äussere Aare, which are reserved for pedestrians and the occasional bikers and which also function as locks.
Shoppers will not be disappointed in the center of Thun, which is anyway quite a lively town for its size. Not the least it is Switzerlands biggest garrison town and boasts of a soccer team in the Swiss super league.

Simply beautiful bridge with White water flowing underneath.
Enjoy walks over the bridge for a nice view towards the main lake and crossing from one end of the city to the next.
Take some great photo’s in front of the beautiful bridge too.

The old town of Thun is compact, beautiful and has great hotels (Schlossberg Hotel is highly recommended), restaurants, shops and lovely covered bridges. It is a relaxing city and the views are spectacular.

An absolutely beautiful covered bridge in the middle of one of the prettiest old towns in the area. The water has a pretty hue to it and the bridge is very picturesque. Saw two guys on surf boards riding the rush of water going through the locks, Very entertaining . Must see it all.

Vieille Ville de Thoune is the old town of Thun, the main village in the lakeside of Thunersee, in Bern Canton, in Switzerland. Here, it is a place to walk, relax, see the very beautiful old buildings, visit the Castle of Thun or only go to a bar/restaurant to drink or eat something. It is a typical Central European old town, from where you can see the very beautiful lake. Very nice.

Ciao a tutti!
Vorrei sapere se i mezzi di trasporto circolano anche di notte e, se si, i biglietti si possono acquistare anche a bordo?
esiste un app dove poter consultare gli orari?
grazie per le info!
