If you can afford shopping in Switzerland, then this is it. The city is one of the most beautiful ones in central Europe. Charming and when is snow it looks like a gingerbread town. During summer the river is nice for a swim.

We were in Bern during the "off-season" and still it was buzzing with tourists, college students and some residents. Lots of nice shops, great restaurants and underground bars/clubs. For me, the old town actually felt old, from its architecture to its construction. It's also not the cleanest city in Switzerland. Yet, there was good vibe in it and it grew... More

We spent 2 days here and were amazed by the beauty of its streets, the fountains and the scenery around, specially from the cathedral and the Parliament buildings. Keep in mind everything is expensive.

We spent the better part of 5 hours walking through the Old Town/City and seeing most of the sights. Of particular interest are the many fountains most of which date from the 16th century.

I wish we had more towns/history like this closer to where we live. I loved checking out this town with its rich heritage. I would definitely go back !

The natural features of this city is what makes it exceptional. The scenery contributes towards why we call Switzerland, paradise on Earth. While walking in the town you could view the Swiss Alps, river flowing underneath a beautiful bridge, old cathedral, clock tower, buildings built in 1800s or even before, museums and cute shops. The city is well connected with... More

Utterly charming city, so glad we made the trip. Can be done on foot, easily navigable with lots of attractions too numerous to mention. To celebrate 150 years of Swiss Red Cross one can watch a media show projected onto the Bundeshaus for free. This town has all the amenities of a capital city without the headache of tight security... More

Went for a day in train in our way to Luzerne. At arrival, after 20 minutes of figuring out where it was, we went to the Visitor's Center where they were very nice and welcoming. We were told we could start with the 12:00 visit to the Clock Tower (be there at 11:55) then walk to the end of the... More
