For us, Gurten was underwhelming having been up larger mountains before, but if you haven't, this would be a good experience:) The funicular departs regularly, but it gets very busy even at 9am. There is a a viewing tower you can walk up to see panoramic views. There is a play area for kids and a miniature train ride they... More

My wife and I made a trip up the Gurten funicular with our city passes from our hotel. This was our absolute FAVORITE thing we did during our time in Bern. The overview of the city was incredible! The locals visit with all their sledding and sledging gear to take advantage of the perfect hills complete with lifts for the... More

As a tourist, you can take the tram from the Old Town/station to Wabern-Gurtenbahn and then the funicular to access Gurten for free with your mobility card given by your hotel/hostel. There are amazing views at the top, however when I visited it was very foggy so I couldn't see much. However it was still worth it to see the... More

Beautiful place, great views! Great little play area, our son also enjoyed the miniature train and cars which were fairly priced. The restaurant is buffet style and you pay for the weight of your food. You can walk up and down if you wish or take the easy route up in the train. Wrap up warm it can be fresh... More

We absolutely loved the trip to the Gurten. The funicular ride was so much fun and the views were amazing. We walked down the hill to see the snow covered trees and up the hill to get great views of the Alps. Everything was so picturesque! (See photos). We had lunch and a bit of a rest in the restaurant... More

Gürten is a little hideaway just few mins away from the city of Bern. You take Tram 9 and get off at Gürtenbahn station. From there you take another ride with a cable car going to the top. Or when the weather is fine, take a walk. It will only take you an hour approximately. The trails are clearly marked... More

I have been for a walk here during summer and it is a lovely way to spend an afternoon, but in winter it is beautiful. Sunny with snow decorating all the trees and fog blanketing the valleys that are Bern. It was a most unforgettable experience.

What a park! It seems like it's a great place to visit on any clear day. We went in December. While it was cold, it was manageable because we were constantly moving—which we had to do if we wanted to see more than just a small area of the park. We had gorgeous views of Bern's Old Town as well... More

Quiet and covered with snow at the time we visit. Though the Gurten Park not opened, the whitish village is beautiful. Hope to go on another sunny day so as to watch the Alps mountain range!

Nice view, great place for kids, affordable restaurant. Use the cable car up and walk down. In the summer theere is a festival there; great concert arena!
