Came up here for a great hike, lookout and picnic. It also has one of the coolest childrens attractions that I have ever seen; a Rune Goldberg like device that moves coloured balls around a series of obstacles.

Gurten...a small hill in the town of Bern, gives the most beautiful view of the Alps. A short bus ride from the centre of the town takes one to Gurten. One can take the funicular up the hill or the adventure freaks can take the 2-hour long trek uphill. At the top, one can see the entire town from one... More

Gurten is the local mountain for the city of Bern, and it’s a great place to visit for a relaxing scenic walk. Take tram #9 (towards Wabern) from the Bahnhof and get off at the Gurtenbahn stop. You will find the base of the funicular railway about 200 metres up Dorfstrasse which is just behind the bus as you get... More

It is well worth to visit the "housemountain" of berne. The easiest way is with the tramway no 9 from the mainstation of Berne , directon Wabern. The ride to the station "Gurtenbahn" takes only 8 minutes. After a short walk (200m) you will reach the Gurtenbahn which runs every 15 min to the top of Berne. The ride takes... More

Take the funicular up the mountain, very clean modern vehicle. There are paths if you want to get off and walk down the mountain path. You may see some cows on the way up or down. Great for children, wading pool, miniature train ride and little cars at the top. Beautiful grounds.

Just outside of Bern, the Gurten is a fabulous place to get stunning views over the city. There is a hotel and event venue on top of the Gurten, otherwise known for its music festival. I attended the TEDxBern event on the Gurten. The event venue is airy and modern. The catering was simple, but when done. The staff was... More

Take the number 9 tram from Bern center to Gurtenbalmhaus, climb up a very steep street and you get to the cable car terminal. It is a lovely ride to the mountain top which affords stunning views of Bern and the alps on a clear day. You can picnic or enjoy good refreshments in the hotel. There is a very... More

I visited Gurten only briefly on a short stay in Bern, and I was taken aback by its amazing views of the Swiss capital city and its surroundings, including the neighboring Alps. It's quite easy to get to via city tram and funicular, and the more adventurous visitors can hike up as well. The park seems to be an especially... More
