The Clock Tower offers a great opportunity for a short video. It's mechanism is not as elaborate as other old clocks such as Munich's. It is, however, worth the photo op. Be at the clock four minutes before the hour to appreciate all that it does.

If you are in downtown Bern at 12:00 noon swing by and join the crowd waiting for the animated clock to go into action. Similar to other European clocks (e.g.,Munich), it starts with the anticipation and then teases you with some introductory activities before it settles down to business and segues to the main course. Has a number of things... More

Tour guide was easy to listen to and communicated well. Enough time to look at views and machinery as well as listen to the explanations. Good views of the city and fascinating to see the machinery at work while the clock struck the hour.

On a company event we had the opportunity to have a guided clock tower tour. It was very interesting and there were many aspects I didn't know before. The technic from 1530 is amazing and it is fantastic to see what people at that time could build with simple technics.

It is one of the highlight of the city. You meet it right at the entrance of the old town at the beginning of the old main street.ot contains a wonderful carillon system performing movements at every hour clocking.

The Clock Tower is simply a very old Building, used to be the Gate to the then walled City of Berne. Tourists love the play when the clock strikes and start to crowd in front of the tower a few minutes before the clock strikes the full hour.

Unfortunately we didn't make it in time for the clock to strike on the hour but still there was plenty to marvel at. It is worth consulting a tour guide or read up on how exactly the clock works.

It isn't quite like the clock tower in Prague however it was very simple and and beautiful. I really liked the design of it and how central it was to the rest of the city. It was nice that it was large however not unlike the other architecture in the city. Nice place and easy to get to. I recommend... More
