We visited Bern for the Christmas markets and also waited for the 12pm show from clock tower. Bern is beautiful with its covered arcades and street fountains but the Clock Tower is a little disappointing. I would not wait around to see the show as not much happens. Plus the viewing is disrupted by tram line wires, buses, trams. People... More

Unfortunately the only attraction of this Clock Tower is the clock face and associated astronomical clock. It is possible to climb up inside the tower but as it is now privately occupied it's not possible to either get a city view from the tower or see inside the old rooms.

There is so much going on here when it sounds from the bears to the rooster to the bells that you should take the clock tour to appreciate everything that goes on behind the scenes to how everything happens to make it so cool.

Its a clock tower, unfortunately I do not have much history on it but its definitely something everyone wants to see. Beautifully designed.

Walking through central Bern you will find it hard not to encounter this clock. Visible from the Main Street along which most of the teams seem to run, it attracts virtually every tourist group. That's not a bad thing - you can still view the clock and its mechanical figurines clearly, and watch the parade as the hour is struck.

Just walking around town you'll see the Clock Tower, it's impressive, so well kept a must see along with the rest of the Old Town.

Purely by chance my walk of Old Bern arrived at the perfect hour, midday, to see all the movements the clock makes. Usefully explained by my ipod guide, the symbolism would have otherwise completely escaped me. One dial tells the time, yes, but look at the hands - it also describes the phases of the sun and moon. The second... More

Merely a photo-op unless you are visiting inside the clock. Skip the hourly "show" of the clock, its absolutely unimpressive.
