Bundesplatz is the biggest square in Bern and is home to two important national institutions - Swiss Parliament, the Curia Cnfederation Helveticae and the Central Swiss bank edifice next door.
Between them is a nice plaza with fountains and public chairs. Looks great both, day and night.

For those who vote and love this country. There is a great example of democracy inside these walls everyday. And from time to time you are welcome to join their debates.

Yesterday we visited Bern and clearly stopped in the square in front of our parliament.
There was a nice fresh market in front of it selling a lot of interesting veggies, pastries and cheeses, but the square itself is surprisingly unadorned, lacks charme and compared to other European capitals it was quite a disappointment.
I always wonder why our capital is not Zurich, since Bern is rather small and not particularly interesting...

I was passing by this square several times in Bern. It is very beautiful in all seasons. For example in winter time they install an ice skating field, where you can rent the ice skating shoes or you can also bring your own and you pay only the entrance ticket. There is no limit of time. There are more family and kids because it is mainly for them and the place is not so huge. During the summer time, there is some holes on the ground, where the water comes from and can be used as a fountain. You can find many kids playing and enjoying the time. From middle of October until the end of November there is the famous light show on the Bundeshouse (Parliament house). It is really amazing because every year they have a new theme to develop and you can watch it for free in the square. The quality of the projection is perfect and the sound perfect. There are n words to describe that, I recommend you to visit if you are in the right period, otherwise I warmly recommend you to watch the videos of the previous years on Youtube or on the official webpage. Enjoy the beauty of Bern!

One of the largest squares in Bern, when there is a lot of bars, shops and restaurants. At day time you can enjoy the sun and at night you can enjoy the night light show at 19:00 and at 20:30 every day.

It's simply the parliament of Switzerland.
So if you are in Bern its part of your city walk and a nice place to visit.
In summer in front there are fountains for kids to play and very often there is an open marked with vegetables or cheeses from Switzerland

A busy area with market (food and other stalls) surrounded by typically attractive buildings.
Well located on tram and bus lines.

This is a beautiful courtyard that has a farmer’s market and at night, they play a movie on the building. Cool place to shop at the farmers market.
