So glad I saw this reviewed on trip advisor!! A GREAT overview of Basel....loved just jumping on the tram mentioned (Get on tram 16 heading to Bruderholz..stay on tram when it changes to 15 (about a 5 minute wait)...take it back to Marktplatz). You get to see a lot of the city...cross over the Rhein river ....in a very relaxed way...and as mentioned, when you stay at a lot of the hotels, you get a free pass to ride the trams. Great thing to do!!!

When you are guest in a hotel you get the Mobility Ticket for free which enables you to take any tram, bus or train in the Basel Region. So, you can also take Tram 16 at Marktplatz with destination Bruderholz and enjoy a unusual sightseeing tour - free of charge. At the final destination Bruderholz, the tram changes its number to 15. You can either keep your seat or make a little stroll in the noble residential area. If you are hungry, you go to the Restaurant Stucki, one of Basels finest (to be sure, give them a call, before you go). With number 15 you go downtown again, cross twice the river Rhine and will be back to Marktplatz. Be sure to get the leaflet at Basel Tourismus or BVB or in the Web with comments of the places to see. We, even as Basel people, did very much enjoy that trip.
